Anybody know what Keith is onto pressing these days? This heat has me jonesing for winter and some shiny veneer goodies would go a little ways to scratching an itch...
Nylon tops would work for me.
I know I'm supposed to stay calm and wait for the shipping info, but that's somewhat easier said than done. Anybody got word about custom build shipping?
What about extending this thread (renamed maybe) into next season or is it about time to start a 2018/19 one?
check this out, someone the right size should snag these ...

Basically at 182 concept. Goldilocks size
Boom bom, minus the reverse side cut underfoot, longer tapered sections and a bigger turn radius! It’s like Keith made a pow specific Concept with a friendly waistline (ya know, curvy in an athletic way kind of thick), and a comfortable touring size length. Def has me a lil ancy n the pancy, really wish I had the dough for these!

I’m surprised he didn’t weigh them. Enduro veneer with Carbon and 4 flex, probably under 8.5 lbs for the pair, maybe close to 8?
Looks like a great playful resort pow ski (at typical crowded resorts where you’re popping in and out of a lot of chop connecting 5-6 untracked turns, not a midweek day far from a metro area where you want the Protest) for a 160ish lbs skier.

Got that amazing email from Keith last week. "Your skis are shipped and should be showing up sometime next week". I think I check the tracking number 7 times a day.
192 Custom Protest - 4 Flex with Carbon Layup and veneer
189 Custom RX - minus 10mm with Bubinga veneer in a stiff plus
170 Custom BC built a little stiffer for the wife to keep her happy veneer'd up for her daily driver
I’ll be stoked to hear some reviews of the skinny RX.
Has anyone reviewed the feel of the heavy layup vs enduro vs other inbounds layups from ON3P, Blizard, etc?

Me as well. Glad to see lots of skinny Rx now, and we can get different takes on them.
The maple/ash cores on the Praxis heavys feel a little bit more torsionally solid than bamboo to me, like a mountain bike frame with less flex versus more flex. Idk how to word it, but the Praxis heavy core feels like a solid wood baseball bat that just goes where you point it. The On3p cores are more flexy, poppy and snappy feeling on snow, but not as solid on edge at speed and not as accurate. Compared to Moment cores, Praxis heavy still feels like denser hardwood with more torsional stiffness. Longitudinally, or along the length of the ski, the Praxis #5 heavy doesnt feel as stiff as On3ps, or some Moments, but I think Keith does that on purpose, being careful not to make a plank since they already ski stiffer than they seem on edge. Praxis definitely ski the stiffest, and thats why the 189 Rx (measures 187cm)feels as stable as some of my longer skis.
I like all three cores, full hardwood, hard/soft mix, full softwood. They all have different feels, and different strengths.
The Blizzard gunsmoke core reminded me most of the Bibbys core, a mix between hard and soft. Seemingly. They still feel different than moments core. I think the gunsmokes had 1 sheet of metal underneath the bindings though and the edge hold did feel a little stronger, more like praxis. The cochise I had was full metal, and I cant really compare.
I think Moment can make a custom stiffer ski though, and get it on par with a custom Praxis heavy in terms of edge hold. I would need to try 2x stiff Wrens, but my 2x Supergoats and 191 Wrens(maybe 1.33x compared to stock 189 BGs?) were not as solid on edge on semi-firm snow to ice as Moment Bibbys or Praxis Rx. I could get the On3ps to waggle a bit when shutting them down quickly from 60mph on firm snow. On3ps feel like stiff versions of K2 skis, and thats coming from me who weirdly loves K2 skis. Even though K2 uses hardwood cores, they feel very similar to On3p cores. Thats what makes the On3ps so fun and able to pop so freaking well. And also so good in soft snow. On3ps much more damp than k2s, dont get it twisted. Moments and Praxis are less poppy and loadable. They dont “launch” as well off smaller side hits and stuff, as well as On3ps.
