With this thread popping back up I tried the Tree tonic and was quite impressed last night.
That being said I drink way to much to buy that on the regular so it’s back to the Schweppes.

Ha! Too late; hard to go back.
I've gotten smug enough to start bringing a 6.8 oz bottle with me into the bar and requesting 3 oz of Saphire plus a 1/4 lime wedge to go with it. Haven't found an insulted 'Tender yet.
And fuck that Hendricks swill.
Polar and Bombay (non saphire) getting it done tonight.
At some point I'll put more effort in and try some of these fancy combos.
I used to know a bartender who had a source for real tonic. It was small batch stuff from someone down in the Southwest, and it needed to be mixed with club soda. It was really good because it had a high level of quinine.
Shameless less plug for Oregon Gin. Crater Lake, Vivacity, and Aria are all excellent.
New limited edition Hendricks out. Need to go scoop one.

Prolly right...just wondered if it it changed the taste or was long enough to be stale...i have to open it for science now
MMMMMMmmmmm ....... plastic and cucumber.
Imma hurl.
Damn. Fever Tree is apparently losing its mind. That said, it makes a pretty tasty G&T.

Tried a g&t with a splash of St. Germain recently. Removes some of the crispness. Not a fan.
I like limes. G&T can be a good way to eat an entire lime or two.
My wife recently bought a sodastream. Anyone have any luck with rolling their own tonic with a tonic syrup?
I'd prefer something on the dry side. Looks like a number of distillers etc. are putting out some tonic syrups, though some are relatively expensive ($2/ounce).
This stuff is easy to source (and excellent): https://johnstonic.weebly.com/
And there are also several options on Amazon.
Or make your own. It's really quite easy.
Still stuck in the office after hours today so it's cocktail time while I type away at a bunch of spreadsheets. Haha. Decided to try out the St. Germain G&T and man, I actually like it a lot! FWIW, I'm using Beefeater which is almost too smooth to begin with so not too much bite to effect either way. I'll need to try it with different Gins to see how the St. Germain effects them. With the Beefeater combo, it's freaking tasty! I did 1.5 oz Gin, 3/4 oz St. Germain, squeeze of lime.
What's crazy is that this is actually the first bottle of Beefeater I've ever purchased. It's good and almost goes down too easy, but I think it's almost too neutral for my personal taste. I think I prefer my normal go-to's of Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray No. 10 or even my cheap-o New Amsterdam. I'm recently getting back into Gin, though, so really need to start venturing out more. Not a fan of any of the overly botanical micro-distillery ones I've tried so far. Next on my shopping list is a bottle of Genever. Never had any. Different from standard Gin, right? Can you guys school me on the matter, please?
Yes: run away. Too sweet.
You're welcome.
And you need to up your gin input to at least 2.5 oz. per glass, ya hoser.
Not correct, but maybe heresy: break up a few rosemary needles and add to ice before the lime and gin.

We did crushed thyme g&t last week too. Having a cocktail out on the deck in the evening breezes is just the height of civilization.
