bebops- for real, or gimmick?

so some people are hooked on these things. are just just kinda like speedplays? i'd be using them for urban and/or road riding.

I've got some on my road bike, been using them for a coupla seasons. No problems. I didn't really choose them but had some credit at a shop and these were about all they had. That said, I haven't been disappointed they're light, have good float and because they're metal I think they'll hold up better than composite speedplays (all my riding buddies eventually break speedplays, albeit after many seasons of abuse). I would not like these pedals for anything but the road or commuting. If you can buy them cheap (not sure what cheap is these days for these pedals) they'd probably work out for you.
