Check out Granite Bay if you seek suburban bliss. Granite Bay CC is one of the best golf courses I've played.

Arden Hills Swim Club might be the coolest swim center in the world. Mark Spitz and all that. Nice neighborhood too.

Nothing wrong with Davis but no reason to prefer it over Sacramento given where you and fiance will be working.

Going across the causeway every day is gonna get really old. Wouldn't recommend.

I was wondering when some one was going to point out that, contrary to conventional wisdom, the UC Davis med center is not in Davis.
lol. My ex did her masters there (obviously not in medicine) and it seemed like a nice little town.

Never got to skate it in the day, or anywhere west of Atl for that matter, but boy did i drool over the pictures in Skateboarder. Still remember the interview, either alva or adams "sure it's easy to get a park wired after six months. but who put the tracks in the ceiling?" Today as a CPA the business model is hysterical, and why they are all public now.

Just thought I'd throw it in there since people are suggesting places like granite Bay. Midtown and east sac seem to have the best walk-to urban-type lifestyle.

Wanna point out with this current heat wave, it ain't even summer yet.

Foresthill does look about 10 degrees cooler. But shit, I don't go outside when it is above 85. Thats what the air conditioning is for. Definitely getting remote start on the new car.

I should clarify--when Sac is in the middle of a 100+ heatwave temperature does drop as you go up the hill. But when the delta breezes kick in--when Sac gets highs in the 80's and low 90's--that's when the lower foothills are warmer.
Couple of things about the car--exterior color doesn't matter but you do want a light colored interior. A windshield sun shade is nice, mainly to keep your steering wheel from giving you 3rd degree burns. And shorts can be a bad idea after your car's been parked in the sun for a while. Sacramento averages 14 days over 100 per year, a number which is increasing, not surprisingly. Sacramentans don't consider temps in the 90s to be hot.

No shit, I hate the heat. Soooo happy we installed central ac last year.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Todd Valley to UCD hospital would be a pretty awful commute to do daily.

When are you out here? I'm in a somewhat similar dilemma, pending action on my half dozen plus apps sitting out there with various state agencies.

    Moving to Sacramento

Don't forget consideration of the transit system. Buses, light rail, and train.

For example, there is an amtrak commuter train that starts in auburn in the morning that is designed to drop passengers off in downtown sac at 730-ish AM and pick them up at 530-ish PM. That example won't necessarily help with a UCD med center commute, but....

Folsom to ucd med center would work on the light rail, if you brought a bike to get to UCDMC from the station.

4-5 block walk, depending on where on the campus the job is. There are staff parking lots on the campus farther from the hospital than the light rail station is.

Looking more and more like we may not start out in Midtown. Fiance is going to stay remote for her current co until at least December, maybe until May. Looking at more options up the hill in the Rocklin to Auburn area. Anyone familiar with Rocklin?
