It's going to be cold, but it should be good. Fairly easy to hitch a ride back into town.
Crystal River in up from Carbondale or Brown's Canyon over the pass.

I haven't boated in a few seasons, but I know the falls well. When it gets high like it is now, you want to hug the right bank at the falls. With a little boof at the bottom you might not even get splashed
