Surprised this didn’t make the list so far - from Kelowna

9-Year-Old Girl With Short Hair Left Sobbing After Being Attacked for Being Trans

    https://newrepublic.com/post/173635/...attacked-trans

A 9-year-old girl was left sobbing after she was falsely accused of being transgender just because she has short hair, in a clear sign of how transphobia harms everyone.

The girl was competing in a shot put event at her elementary school in British Columbia, Canada, last week, when the grandfather of another girl demanded to know why a boy was competing in a girls’ event.

One of the mothers, Heidi Starr, said Tesar insisted, “If she is not a boy, then she is obviously trans,” and repeatedly shouted for people to “get that boy off the field.” Starr said her daughter is female, identifies as a girl, and wears a pixie haircut.

She also said his wife called her a “genital mutilator, a groomer, and a pedophile.”
The asshole, one Josef Tesar, has been banned from school property, and may be brought up on hate speech charges.

not only that consider mortgages at the big 6 canadian banks are amortised over 25 or 30 years

but usually the term is only 5 yrs and then the mortgage needs to be renewed at the going rate

which has gone up in the last year to the point that as the renewal comes due

many Canadians holding a mortgage are screwed

Exactly. All kinds of cheap real estate in Canada if you want 10 months of winter and 2 months of biblical mosquitos.

That's because in smaller cities and surrounding the big ones we have this land servicing scam that's been going on since the middle 80s. I was privy to what was going to happen because I know and knew many of the players. 40 years as a Commercial Broker as well as a former custom Home Builder I've seen it all and now hate what's allowed to go on. It's a not lack of land but services. As an example a detached home's land value was 25% in the early 80s and now it's about 75%.

Once home builders made money only building homes and now almost all of them make so much more money sitting on thousand of acres of land until it becomes serviceable. Imagine land that sold for $30k to $150k an acre becoming worth $3 to $4 million an acre before a shovel hits the ground. It's fucking nuts. Sure we made money playing this game but as time went by I hated it and knew by the early 2000's small and medium size home builders would be replaced by only the big ones. By 2006 no small or medium builders could afford to build in the GTA (greater Toronto area) unless they owned the land for many years prior. Not fair for 1st time buyers and young families. Home ownership is for many the only major investment they make for the future and now for many it's becoming unobtainable.

Because all the big builders take care of the politicians key to allocating services to only their land no real competition exist. It's gotten worse since Doug Ford took power and with so many corrupt mayors there is no end to this.

What pisses me off to no end is that a detached home in the GTA should be just over a million rather than 2-2.5 million.

    Ok. End of rant.

Yup x2. When the feds talk about more housing they are blowing it out of their asses.
It goes Provincial to Regional to Municipal.
I should have added that the DC (development charges) are so astronomical that only the big companies can afford them but it's the end user/buyer that pays for them.

Ha! Although that could be sorta true when the house is an empty knock down - which shouldn't exist there with the surtaxes, but they do.

Vancouver is in world of its own. I can see why some properties are in the 10's of Millions. I was there in 92 before things really took off. Stayed in house that the tenants were trying to stop from being knocked down. It was close to you city hall if I remember correctly. When I left in I counted maybe 10 cranes and a month later when I returned I counted 19 of them. A lot had to do with Hong Kong money. The few people I did business with from Hong Kong all said we are grossly under valued. I think they were at $1000 psf and we were $100 to $150 psf for a condo. Last time I inquired before mainland China took over they were above $10k psf or maybe that was some years before.

Gone around the sun 60 times so I guess I'm in trouble eh?
    Never knew that.
    I thought 4 was a no no.
    I know 8 is huge.
Funny the 1st deal I ever did was a townhouse with the number 48. The seller told me it was ok to buy but not ok to live in. He was original from Hong Kong.

It had to be 30 yrs ago but i can still see her in my minds eye that woman saying " too many sixes "

but you only got the one 6, in any case you only in trouble if you are AZN

and make sure your front and back doors are staggered

Brother in law lives in North Van. Asked him why there are a lot of asians south of stanley park but not many in north van. He said "they don't like the hills." Not sure if there's any truth in that, sounded mildly racist to me...

there is a big Persian influence in North Van but I don't know about the hill thing

Flatter-than-piss-on-a-plate Richmond is like 60% AZN also lots of AZN in east van,

the original chinese that mom couldn't understand were Cantonese, the HK came in the mid 90's on some import-a-millionaire scheme thot up by the fed gov of the time ( didnt work ) and the latest group is the mainlanders, billions in laundered money

Vangroovy has probably the mildest weather in canada, also closest to Asia and the big one is ... lots of great restaurants eh

Vangroovy has alwasy been pretty multi cultural
