Heh. Those neighbours are not restricted to any geography IME. My current neighbour’s yard is a carbon copy of xxx-er’s. And in all the town’s in BC and AB I have lived in, someone similar was never father than a stone’s throw/couple properties over. Good neighbour bylaws help a bit for the worst offenders, but is no solution to how someone is raised/how they maintain their self image.

and the perp was probably one of the nicest kids in town until he got into whatever,

I think now he is into a jail cell until they find him some treatment

yup its a little bit the older part of town the forefathers would have been expecting the town to expand all the way out 2 blocks west of Main st ending at the catholic parish so the street is wider to make it into a main road but that didnt happen

that house was made by pushing/ bolting 3 shacks together in the 20's or 30's eventualy all the wooden blocks holding it up rotted so every wall in the house is crooked in some places by like half foot, otoh at one point it was the cheapest house in town

but I mean who wouldn't rather live in a gated community 1/2 hr out from town ?

How about getting trapped in Edmonton’s $600,000 silver Talus Balls?

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...pped-1.6806168

"It was kind of like watching a mouse fall into a bucket," …. "He was just kind of running around inside of it starting to freak out because he couldn't get out."

Klaver said he's admired the shiny chrome exhibit for years and always wondered what it would look like from inside but has never been "curious or stupid enough" to give it a try. "Maybe they should have left him there overnight, you know, throw him a sandwich or something," Klaver said with a laugh.

Somehow I missed this 2019 story on Canadians vs Muricans:

Canadians are inconsiderate travelers — even more so than those boisterous, barefooted Americans, if you can believe it. The verdict comes from an Expedia airplane etiquette survey, which ranked each nationality in terms of their travel manners.

Nearly 50 percent of Americans are willing to change their seats, the most out of all the countries ranked by the travel company. Meanwhile, only a third of the Canucks surveyed would consider swapping seats so families can sit together.

Heavy bag? Find an American: About half the time, someone from the US will help another traveler lift their luggage into an overhead bin. Fussy baby? Look for that red, white and blue — 21 percent of US travelers have helped entertain someone else’s kiddo. Just 14 percent of Canadians said they’ve done the same.

I read yesterday that Air Canada has the worst on time arrival/departure of any major international carrier. Customer reviews/ratings are in the toilet etc.
Oh, and the CEO got something like 13 million dollars in compensation last year.

I think the “lite” is implied in “canuck” - certainly when talking about disorderly behavior

I don't particularly need to go any where and yes I can drive but why does the town need 2 flights a day ?

well cuz people who can't drive need to do business , fishermen wana fish, hunters wana hunt, hut skiers/ cat skiers/ heli skers wana ski which is all business and so if the plane goes overweight they just leave whatever you checked off the plane

I don't really see why anyone would have to ask except perhaps a dumb ass ?

and BTW some times you can't switch seats cuz it upsets the balance of the plane

When I was working for a Vancouver outfit- I’d fly down in the am and fly back in the pm. Luckily COVID convinced them that teams was good enough. Then Teams convinced them it could be an email, and e-mails convinced them I was had no idea what I was talking about! But lots of folks who are worth their hourly rate need to make that face to face and it used to be somewhat affordable. Not any more.
