I was more concerned with the High West rye he’s mixing with it. IMO Midwinter Night’s Dram calls for sipping straight, but I suppose it’s a lot easier to find (and cheaper) in Ootah. Cheers!

Sipping neat, on ice, shots, with eggnog....it’s all good. New bottle gets open tonight. I don’t really mix w/ anything else, except occasionally a spray of sweet and dry vermouth and bitters.

It was delish. I am no booze snob who thinks that only well booze should be mixed. But I guess I am a booze snob who doesn’t really drink well booze.

^ I just love the HW MWND, and it’s really hard to find, and usually expensive, around here. So I guess I’m jealous.

I'm of the same mind, generally. Notable exception: Whiskey Pig 10 yr rye does not make a good Manhattan.
Don't get me wrong; it's imminently drinkable, but mildly disappointing.

Wow, I'm an idiot. I'm not actually familiar with that one but am perpetually on the hunt for High West's Campfire. Have to find anywhere in MT that actually stocks it.

Mixing good booze leads to drinks that taste good. It takes a special level of snobbery to claim otherwise.

I’ve seen it at MT Glass in HLN. I think I saw it last week but I wouldn’t swear to it.

    Chilly morning.

The indoor hygrometer gets wonky when the woodstove is running.

I wasn't in the mood to get chilly (the air) this morning so we walked (the dogs and I) by the beach. I didn't miss much.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

For surz a great way to start the new year, but I would love to be skiing on those days too. Just take what you can get.
