The Lava fire near Mt. Shasta blew up this afternoon. This is the view from Yreka.

I saw a guy walking my neighborhood last night wearing a Midnight Suns jacket….figured he was with the VT-GNF engine detailing here (for some reason…it’s wet cool and green). He didn’t have much to say, didn’t seem to give 2 shits he was in Michigan getting base 8s versus on actual fires in the busy west.

I found the whole exchange odd. I find it odd anybody on an engine, wearing gear from an old shot crew would be like meh, fire…meh. Whatever.

^ I’m with you, that’s kind of amazing. I’d have walked up and talked with him too on account of the Midnight Suns sweatshirt. You know, being that annoying old guy that was all “yeah, back in the day…” Like when I see someone riding a Bonneville. Though I worked with the Suns a lot and have a Bonnie…but I’m old.

BTW, I meant to say I understand your urge to pull on your boots when you see or hear about smoke, but I was at it for a long time so I guess I’m played out.

No kidding! You're in super shallow water and it's freaking chilly!

It's not my fault those boys up in Tennessee can't make a speedo with kph to match their digital display. Must have been made on a Friday.

Got me thinking though, I'm not sure I'd want my depth meter in well, meters. Knowing that you have 3-2 feet or less could come in handy in a lot of places I know.

That's why the display goes down to the tenth of a meter.

You have to walk down to the basement? Rookie.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

We have a rule that if the water plus air temp is at least 100f then we go out. You almost hit that in Celsius!

We had a similar rule, but thanksgiving day was always an exception. Turns & turkey!
