Hawk killed it. But the hawk ran into my bedroom window midflight and dropped its prey, the dead squirrel, on impact. Scared the shit out of me, thought it was a gunshot. Hawk likely to be dead, too, but at least it flew away after the initial stun.

I have a glorious southern sky vista with a whole lotta dark (like my soul) nights. So with ski season winding down, I need something to keep me outta trouble, at least once the sun goes down. He had some orange ass teeth that's for sure. First squirrel in the near neighborhood in a few years and my dog was eyeing him the past few days, was dead meat regardless. Bummed about the hawk though, not what I expected waking up to on earth day.
