I don't know if it's the location, a rise in popularity, or the steady march of idiocracy, but some of the worse hunting I've seen has been in Skagit County. Shooting across roads, at people's houses, over the heads of other hunters, not wearing safety colors, and the piece de resistance: two groups shooting at the same birds directly across a marsh from each other.

Nothing new. I started hunting ducks and geese on North Bay and Fir Island in 1980 or so. It sounds like not much had changed. Maybe more kooks that grew up in the city?

I lease a horse at this 650 ac working farm. It used to be the US naval academy dairy farm, built in 1915, very cool place.

Well I live in the heart of Washington state beef country and I know dairy cattle when I see them.

Ugh... someone sent me steaks from Kansas. I don't care for my meat that well traveled esp. when the local stuff I get is butchered fresh every week. Looks like I'll be making a donation to the local food bank.
