    RIP Don Rickles

Meh. I guess he was alright.

Edit: But I'd rather listen to him than Andrew Dice Clay (who is a legitimate asshole...vs Don Rickles, who only PLAYED an asshole).

CPO Sharky was my first exposure to him. Pretty tame stuff compared to his stand up routines.

It was always fun to see him get ripped by Carson for CPO Sharkey. The show wasn't that bad but he took a lot of grief for it. Although he probably wrote that material himself. Major influence and first in insult comedy. Saw him as a kid in vEgas. Blew my mind when I found out how nice a guy he was irl

Just lost an hour at work watching him with sinatra on carson. Sadly i'm not that old, but that stuff is way funnier and entertaining then late night today. It's like they knew how damn awesome it was to be on TV or in entertainment and not working stiffs so they would bring the rest of us along for the ride. Somehow wound up watching more Carson clips culminating with Bette singing as the last guest. Damn time has a way of slipping. RIP Don, you made me laugh for years.

He was hilarious. He and Bob Newhart were best friends and perfect foils for each other.

Just read that when Sinatra came to see him the first time in Vegas, everyone warned Rickles to be careful and leave him alone. So Rickles walks out and says, "Hey I see Frank Sinatra's here! Make yourself at home, Frank, hit somebody!" Sinatra cracked up of course.

1983. Letterman definitely liked having him on over the years.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

I thought this thread would have more traffic. I guess a lot of the younger crowd has no clue who Don Rickles was?

Colbert, Fallon and Myers did tributes as well. I'll edit w links when I find them. I saw that the special honoring Rickles is set for rebroadcast as well on Comedy Central

A true Gentleman. An old friend sat at a table close the stage Rickles ripped into. End of show he invites all at the table for Champagne and he apologized and asked if any offense was taken. According to my friend, no one said bo. He went on to explain - it's part of my act.
My friend was so impressed that she got to meet him and how concerned he was that they weren't insulted.
    What a class act
    Always liked him
    May he RIP https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q5_V9RT8aR8
    riser4 - Ignore me! Please!
