Skier survey - help a dude out [SPAM]

So a buddy of mine is working a pretty cool idea - can't really tell much about it for obvious business reason - but basically if he can pull it off it will make skiing cheaper. Anyways, he is trying to get some market info through this survey. Take a look and fill it out if you get a moment. Also, send it to whoever you can - he is trying to get info from all sorts of skiers, not just pass holders, etc. I'll send him the link to this and get him on here (he'll like this place) and he'll answer any questions you throw up.

    Thanks doods!

Don't know how much help I was. Lift ticket pricing doesn't affect how much I ski. I think most here ski no matter what.

If I didn't work for a pass I would ski way less. Prices are relatively cheap here but a weekend is still $38. At that rate I wouldn't be skiing more than once a weekend and I'm sure there would be weeks I'd have to skip for lack of funds. Mid-week days are a little cheaper but I can't always get those days off. Below Zero, sure I'd like to have unlimited money and days on the hill but reality takes care of that little fantasy real quick. For three seasons I've had it good but if that particular gravy train ends I'll be hustling for some other way and skiing much less.
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!

I certainly don't have unlimited money, but you can always ski for free with an AT setup, avy gear, a partner, and knowledge.

Given that my limiting factor is time off and not cost, the survey failed to present choices that corresponded to my answers.

    Done and done.
Interestingly, I am one of those folks that prolly would ski more in the Northeast if I could get cheaper ticks. $35 to $45 and I would go a lot more than I do now.
I just don't love the NewEngland mountain resorts enough to justify the ridiculous day ticket prices and the equally obnoxious crowds.

You're not skiing at the right places in the east.

Prolly right -I'm new out here and just learning the resorts.
Inbounds anywhere seems limiting compared to out West (talking terrain, but factor in snow quality and crowds, and sheeesh)

So far, I like Jay Peak and Sugarloaf.
Most places would be OK for $40 to ski manmade shit and dodge the tourons, but at $70 I just aint groovin it.

Definitely need to find more secret stashes and b/c spots.

    I am that guy

    Thanks guys,

I am "that guy" whose survey this is. Thanks for any input. As a couple of you have pointed out, this may not be something you will target you (or me), however any additional info/insight is great for us. Also, pretty much any feedback is helpful. Feel free to send any questions/thoughts my way.

I'm also in the "cost isn't particularly relevant" camp, since I get a season pass and ski almost all my days there, bringing the per-day price down to something like $8/day or less.

If day prices were lower elsewhere I might be lured away from my season pass more often, though.

Try Burke, Smuggs, MRG, Pico & Magic to name a few for resorts and there is plenty of bc for the hiking in the Presidents of NH and off the AT and Long Trail in VT.

Its not just up north and out west where the prices are getting, well pricey. This past season at Sugar mtn in North Carolina an adult day ticket was $53 on the weekends.

I hope my taking the survey helps someone.

I'm sorry but lower ski prices is not always the best option, I understand that skiing is an expensive sport and I work my ass off every summer to earn enough money to buy a pass and all the other gear I am going to need, but look at Colorado, there passes are really cheap and if you don't leave the front range real early you sit in traffic all the way to the slopes and all the way home, plus the mountains are all very crowded. I know the more people that ski the better the sport will do and as a result true skiers will benefit, but I just don't know I liked skiing a lot more back in the day when there were less people out there. I know that is really selfish, but...

I took the survey but I can't see how my (honest) answers will help his business plan, he's looking for a different demographic that we have here, I think.

As you know, Gonz, in general here we have BC-only dudes, locals with passes, and semi-seniors (Stop Looking At Me!!) whose lift tickets are only a relatively small part of their skiiing costs. Not that we proto-seniors wouldn't appreciate a break on tix, it just wouldn't be the go/no go factor.

I think there is a ready market for discounted tickets but I wonder how to get in touch with that market. Prolly SKI magazine, as much as that sucks.

Get me some cheap flights to SLC and I'm down.
