Having the Wild Thing as the closer really helped packed the house as well. Serrano was my fave player though he struck out a lot.

But seriously, I felt bad when they lost to Atl. Thought that was their best look at it. IIRC

Ha! Greatest baseball movie of all time.

95 to Atlanta sucks but I thought 97 was the year. So much power in that lineup. And while losing in game seven of last year sucked, that was all playing with house money.

Had to go back and remind myself. Just found this for quick reference.
    https://www.si.com/mlb/2016/10/20/cl...series-history

That was Renteria ending. That was a big ending to a series...pure Clevelandesque to boot. (pre Cavs ship of course).

In the long, long line of Cleveland sports failures, that one stung the most. As a long-suffering Cleveland sports fan though, happy days are here again. Three straight NBA finals appearances, one championship, and a World Series appearance on all but one and a half pitchers to game seven… With a bright future on the horizon.

Let's just look past the dumpster fire that is the Cleveland Browns

I've stated before that I welcome a Tribe breakthrough. Especially want with Francona at the helm. His health is becoming more of a concern it seems, so better get to it.
Browns will breakthrough soon as well I believe...by that, I mean they will win 6 games in a season within the next 5 years.

    Haha! Totally agree.

Everything is in place for the Tribe right now - just gotta get healthy for the second half - including Tito. Far and away my favorite manager of all time.

Anyone want a wager on the Browns winning 5 games or more in the next 5 years?

A warm 6 pack of Budweiser cans. 5 or more wins in a single season in any of the next 5 seasons.

To be sporting, I'll take the yes bet.

Ok, but I don't drink anymore. I will take warm Pepsi if I win.

The Nats have been a fun team to watch this year. But yeah. Their bullpen is horrible.

    A walk-off walk, whoa.

Nice to give Kimbrel another day off. And Sale tomorrow.

Also, Pablo gets his walking (well, waddling) papers, finally.

    OFFICIAL 2017 MLB THREAD

Ugh. Sox can't find a hit, ESPN won't shut up about Judge or the stupid fucking HR derby. Glad that GoT is coming on soon

Edit: I could cross post this in both the Shit That Annoys You thread or the How Do I Hate Thee ESPN thread.

Judge who? 1-16 in the series, absolutely robbed by JBJ. Helluva series with a fun finish tonight.

The fellas were in the house last night, a good time as per usual. Thanks BigDaddy as always! We were on the Bud Deck directly above right center, I wasn't paying a shit ton of attention, the sparkling repartee of Brock and Diamond Joe had most of my limited focus, but I happened to be looking right at JBJ when he stole that, I almost spilled my beer. Almost.

Always good to see BD, sad/mad/gladvres, Brock, Diamond Joe, the actual Dentist guy (Phil?) and also meet Sagamoron finally. There were other people but apparently they must have been unimportant since I can't remember them. Or I may have had one too many pops. Nah.

Turns out staying in Framingham was less than a power move, the Pike was under construction and it took way over an hour to get back there and cost me a fucking hundie with surge pricing from Uber. d'oh! Fortunately I had some retarded IPA that tasted like pine cones on ice for when I finally got back.

Ice, I had gone back over to the rail by the bleachers - nobody had filled in where we were standing. That Jackie Bradley Jr catch was right in front of me, one of the best catches I've ever seen

Yeah that was pretty beat. An intelligent person would have recognized that it was a shitty plan well in advance of implementing it but...I didn't.

I swear it's Bud Light from here on in. A couple freezing cold Bud Lights would have been so much better than the sips of pine cone beer that I could manage to choke down. I mean I did choke quite a bit of it down, don't get me wrong.

    But yeah good times.

In a related note, so nice to get Rodriguez back, I love that kid, and also Brock (Holt, not Landers), he adds so much to the team. Really good news.
