at least you aren't phillies fans > 28-57 and 22.5 games out approaching the break with nothing to look forward to and no hope in sight

they could turn it around with good mgt.

the Astros went from making the world series to losing 100 games but now look like a monster and one of their best rated draft pitchers, marc appel; was a total flameout.

if the royals can build to make they world series, anyone can.

That familiar gut feeling you get when the best pitcher in the rotation can't even get out of the first inning and the run diff has just dropped to zero..

Remember when the Cubs thought playing baseball was loads of fun? Now they talk about it being a "grind."

True, but the Phillies have neither a loaded farm system nor (as you touched on), competent management implementing an intentional tear down and rebuild plan. Vibes.

Missed it, did they trot out the reanimated corpse of Chris Berman to do the "back, back, back..." calls or did they just pipe in a recording?

The hitting was great. It was the stupid ads announcers that drove me crazy. All they was talk about Judge the whole goddamn time. At least pretend to pay attention or that you aren't rooting for Judge to win.

Berman would have been an upgrade. At least he watched the derby.

    Plus, the new format sucks

I watched it. You can't pay much attention or care but as background a ridiculous athlete mashing the fuck out of a baseball is okay.

I like trying to guess whose season/career is gonna get ruint by it. I'm guessing the hillbilly from the NL, blanking on his name right now.

edit: Charlie Blackmon. Sorry CO peeps but I never heard of the guy until last night.

He has been a nice little surprise for the Rox. They do breed good hitters, maybe from the confidence hitting at Coors Canaveral. They are actually hitting on the road this year as well. And finally got some pitching that could just get them to a first round playoff loss. Blackmon just quietly does his business, so I would appreciate you not sending your bad juju his way. Pick a Yankee for gods sake, you have a couple to choose from.

Anyone catch the MLB documentary that debuted two days ago: the 1990s Indians, the dynasty that almost was.?

Even though you knew the ending, it was really really well done. Amazed at how many interviews they got out of those guys. Craziest Takeaway I thought was finding out that the pictures were being called from the bench in game seven of the 97 World Series and Jose fucking Mesa Brush them off.

Personally, that's when I fell in love with baseball. A five run deficit in the eighth inning was no sweat for those guys to overcome, 455 straight sellout games, Cy Young's, and two World Series appearances… Good shit
