    VW R32

Sooo tempted to buy one from a friend of a friend.

MK5 version with the DSG, (too bad it ain't manual, but hey), 97K, second owner, looks pretty damn clean, dealer serviced, includes snow tires and rims, seems pretty legit overall.

What does the wisdom of the collective know about potential problems or hassles with this vintage?

    How much would you pay?

Oh, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about:

How much? The success of the mk7 R and the impending mk8 had been driving down the market on older models, but I haven't checked recently. Personally, I like the way the mk5 looked better than the mk6, but I wouldn't have the dsg no matter how good it is. Just a personal preference (about which I am 100% correct, and those who disagree are 100% wrong). Pretty sure there were no mk5 manuals in the US. So there's your answer.

I have a mk7. I like it. It's fun, and it's just so easy to live with. The turbo 4 is a better fit than the VR6 was... Car's so well balanced. Still haven't found a car I'd rather be driving right now (since AWD is a requirement). I might do the downpipe and stage 2 this summer... Hard to believe you can turn on that kind of performance for <$2k.

Almost bought that exact car from my cousin, super well maintained. I wasn't stoked on the mileage [ ya, lame, i know ] and the price at the time was fairly stout, $14k iirc. Lots to like about that car tho.
