    Sorry, didn't see this sooner.

Ate leftover machaca from El Lucerito (out in Saudi A.) where we go aftah league, it is okay but not incredible mex, that said Fri-Sun they serve Carnitas that are simply wonderful. Yesterday I got taken out for a "business" lunch at my standard sushi spot (sushi boat 25/hampden) they had special xtra fresh uni (urchin), eat them up yum.

For lunch or dinner tomorrow I suggest you fly to NYC and eat at Bouley.

I was devastated about a month ago to discover that the empanada window in Boulder is gone If anyone has seen good, cheap empies please lemme know.

The first time I went there, I asked what the best one was. She told me which one was most popular and so I said, fine I'll have one of those. She refused to charge me for it, saying only, "If you like it, you'll be back."

So I said keep the money anyway and tell the next guy in line that his lunch is on me.

Right now the front-runner for lunch on Sat is Isabella's at the Brook Forest Inn...

Okay, she says that a solid bet is:

The creekside cafe, unpretentious, inexpensive, good, have a winery

Thuy Hoa (vietnam), their menu is staggeringly large.

I'd choose CC over TH, never been to BFI. IIRC I've heard good things about Restaurant Kody ($$$$$$)

And please forgive me but: the food at El Rancho is actually not bad at all and has great (but specific) atmosphere.

BTW- I did enjoy the man in the high castle a lot.

Kody is only open for dinner, otherwise it would have been the choice.

El Rancho, The Little Bear, The Morrison Inn-- while wonderful joints in their own regard, arent' really the right speed for what I'm looking for this time.

And serially, no joke about Tom's. If you can, you MUST visit for lunch sometime.

yeah, that's a problem comin from the southside.

I'm out of other ideas for you then. Creekside is good but is not in the same class as Kody. How bout takin the missus to the Coney Dog in Aspen (park)? Class. Kermits?

Little further but Jenny's always satisfies (not same class though again).

Pinner - nice suggestion! That's near my work too.

I ended up going to Safeway on 6th and Corona and just getting some sandwhich stuff and a banana.

So where is the best place to eat on South Broadway?

    On or close to SoBo?

Best place to melt a girls panties = Village Cork (louisiana?&Pearl about 3blks N. of sushi den)
Best food on Bway? Probably Tacos de Colima (Evans & Bway)
Best Diner on Bway = Breakfast Queen
Best Diner near Bway = Breakfast King
Pasquinis on Bway is of course a standard but their italian sammies are good.

Too bad Evangeline is gone, that place ruled. Ain't been to the replacement place.

    Yeah around SoBos

Did they change the chef at the Hornet? I ate there yesterday and a few weeks before and all there stuff comes out with all sorts of swirls and garnishes and stuff. It's pretty cool and relatively cheap. I like the food there.

Dunno about the hornet. I fear change though.

Really, the village cork is a great date spot. Just wine and appies, very relaxed and neither of us has ever left there short of full and happy.

The Hornet gets a thumbs up for being CONSISTENTLY fun, reasonably priced and high quality. Place has been that cool for several years, which is a coup in a town where the 'Bridge and Tunnel' crowd manages to ruin a good thing rapdily every time they discover it.

Though if you're calling The Hornet "south" Broadway, clearly we're talking in different languages.

I've said it before, but for happy hour, Highland Pacific is a great place. Owned by ski bum/Spreadheads, the $2 Mirror Ponds and $1 Blue Points special runs from 5-7pm and 10-12pm.

And I'm also a big fan of Sushi Hai for a reasonable, friendly and well-assembled meal.

Head to the Coral Room for a drink after dinner and say hi to some of the friendliest bartenders in town.

(Can ya tell I like living in the Highlands?)

No, I was just making that comment. I know the Hornet isn't South Broadway. Everything after Alameda is South Broadway, correct?
