US men's hockey is dominating Slovenia. A little sloppy with unforced turnovers which they won't be able to get away with against a better opponent.

Such a difference between this first game and what the NHL players would bring in crisp passing and speed.

Looks like Russia and Slovakia are tied 2-2 which is a bit of a surprise.

Slovenia ties it after pulling their goalie. Hopefully the US can even make into overtime the way they are playing the remaining time in this period.

Edit: Headed to 3 on 3 overtime.

Edit #2: Whelp.... quick loss in the OT. Looks like the US has its work cut out to make it very deep in the tourney.

women's 500M speed skating was a cool watch at lunch today. bad luck for Biney, looked like she could have been more aggressive in the first turn to hold onto the #2 position. a good learning experience nonetheless.
