    TR: Bouley, NYC

    Just a quick TR

Ate at a place down in Tribeca (ohhhh I am soo COOL, who wants to touch me?) called Bouley ( www.bouley.net ). And wow. It was superb. Scrumptious. Wonderful. Highly Recommended and expensive as hell. I didn't take notes so some stuff might be off (especially since we went out and got very drunk at the Russian Vodka Room with the rooskie contingent afterwards. The Russian had just the tasting menu and I had the tasting menu plus the wine pairings (a bargain at twice it's $70 addition). Wish I could remember any of the wine names b/c they were all just perfect and in general I had about 1.25-1.5 glasses of each with each course ( ). But the point of the wine pairings as far as I'm concerned is not to buy them later but to enjoy them with that specific dish. Beats ordering a bottle or two by a LONG mile.

    Russian:
canape (this was a froth/gelee concoction with yellar 'maters and
green apple, I'm not big on the frothy things but this was still very edible)

    tuna/fennel

    halibut/truffles

    baby pig

sorbet/soup course (damn I don't remember what all was in this one)

    pineapple meringue/pistachio cake

    earl grey to finish off

    Me:
    ket 1/tonic

    canape (same)

    tuna/fennel came with a white

lobster deal with mango/ham/artichokes etc... came with a

    wonderfully bad assed Riesling

baby pig came with a red, mestifio mestfisios? something like that. Spainish holy hell good. The pig was just simply outstanding. Best dish of the evening.

sorbet/soup (same) with a cold sake, note I don't care for cold sake usually and this was AWESOME

choco soufflé with a dessert red, also very very good and soufflé is my favorite dessert, this was simply outstanding. So good I even ate the icecream (don't eat icecream as a rule).

since my lovely wife was having an after dinner tea I got a glass of port for a capper, Dow's I think it was less expensive than my tonic and oh so good.

We got out of there for right a hair under 400 bones after tips (waitstaff- VERY GOOD, sommelier- VERY GOOD, kitchen- OUTSTANDING)

I do so love going for top end meals, sadly I can't really afford it but on occasion well, you just have to sometimes. To quote Ferris: "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up[errrr eating there]." If you've never gone balls to the wall on a true TOP END meal you're really missing out on one of the great things in life IMO.

otherwise, trip was okay: Phillly = not bad, denver has better cheesesteaks, market under the convo center = rules, saw the liberty bell and some old buildings, dirty noisy crowded. Ate at Budakahn, totally adequate eating establishment. NYC = not bad, dirty noisy crowded didn't do much touristy stuff just the met and ground zero.

    Whoever suggested Bouley, THANK YOU!

hey, I can't be expected to go to every cheesesteak place in the whole city. Had one at Geno's (southphilly) and one at Joe's (downtown). Both were good, neither could touch the philly cart at the end of the 16th street mall.

Strandard- No hamms sadly. Sorry missed sat, I was out of town.

Homeboy does make a kick ass cheesestake. FYI, Strand missed a majority of Saturday also (f-ing mushrooms).
