Fuck PENNDOT in the ass with a flagpole

These asseaters are telling me my carregistration is suspended for three months. Here's what the shiteating asslickers are telling me- because I was without insurance for a week last fall and I never sent a notarized letter, they are suspending my registration foir 90 days. As soon as I realized that I had a lapse in my insurance, I went out and got a new policy, at a cost of several hundred dolars more than my previous one. It's funny- the second my policy expired, they knew about it and were trying to go up my ass with a microscope. But the fact that I got insurance withing 30 days never seemed to get to them. Why the hell hasn't somebody ever shot up a DMV office before? The way these people piss you off, I'm amazed no one has tried to spray napalm all over them.

And fix the fucking roads, fucktards. This is the worst state buerocracy I have ever witnessed. These people are so fucking retarded. I am now positive that I want to move out of this state by the end of the year.

    Two things:

1-Give a call to your state legistator, or state senator (Contact Your Legislators), and see if they can help out. I'd use one or the other, but not both at the same time. Maybe ask the first one you call which of 'em has more pull with PennDOT, etc.

2-There's a very big, and valid, reason for what you experience: Auto Insurance rates are sky-high in certain parts of the state, and this is a response to the insurance companies working with the state pols on what needs to happen for rates to come down in a big way. Example, inside the Philadelphia city limits, just two or so years ago, when this all started, something like 45% of all drivers had no insurance whatsoever. It was a cultural thing, people just drive without having insurance, a father would tell his kids when they got old enough to drive, no, you don't need auto insurance.

It may not sound like it, but you kinda got off easy with the letter. In Philly, if you ever get pulled over and cannot provide proof of insurance on the spot, the cops call a tow truck and your car is towed away right then and there. Even if you have insurance but your cards aren't with you, bye-bye car -> Go to impound yard -> produce proof of insurance -> cough up a few hundred $$$ to get vehicle out of lockup. Here's a somewhat reasonable write up on it: Live Stop.

Aren't the vast majority of them in the red?....

Wyoming isn't, we're spending 6+ million on cloud seeding next year for the Wind River Range :-).

Maybe. I have no idea what they spent the money on- the entire state's infrastructure sucks balls. I don't think they're even spending the money paying off Penn State football recruits- they haven't had too much success the last few seasons.

PennDot has the largest network of roads that freeze in the US. They're broken before they're fixed. But what do you expect from a state with shrinking industry and a huge number of retirees?

Seriously. Shrinking budget combined with worst weather for road mantinenece anywhere and what do you expect? It is annoying sitting in traffic in a work zone only to pull up on thirty penndot employees leaning against the guardrail watching one play with a tape measure, though.

If you haven't been around, you have NO IDEA how bad the Philly roads are after this winter. I thought Boston was rough; there's shit here that would snap your axle if you hit it. There's a pothole 3 feet across and probably 8 inches deep on the 16th st. entrance to 76 that I have personally witnessed cause 2 accidents because people have to either swerve to avoid it or else flat (you're going about 35+ when you get to it). It's a fucking nightmare.

In other parts of the world (Iraq comes to mind), they get people to dig these, and they call 'em tank traps. Here we get 'em for free.

What's yellow and sleeps six? A PennDOT truck, of course!

On a more serious note, in the rural areas of the state, PennDOT publicizes it's 800 pothole-hotline number, 1-800-FIX-ROAD. But in the Philly area they never mention it, (maybe they're afraid they'd get swamped with calls). It's worth a try. The # was started during the Ridge era, when there was an initiative to make state agencies more responsive to their end users.

There's also a number for the City of Philadelphia, see here.
