I just put calipers to my "120mm" brakes and the narrowest section measured at 138.7mm.

^^muchos gracias
Yeah I've had multiple pairs of dynafits and they've worked well. I've skied more inbounds days on them than I would have liked. That being said the vipec (and looking forward to trying the tecton) is noticeably more solid on hard snow. The design of the binding on the track system rather than rotation IMO is the primary reason for the increased performance.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.
Checking four brake widths on Vipecs right now, trying Tecton next.

AFAIK, there was a change to the brake sizing between last year (Blacks and earlier) and this year (Evo and Tecton). I also believe that the new model brakes run about 5mm wide. So 100mm will comfortably fit up to 105mm, etc. Though from the brakes I have, due to the mechanism, the brakes don't come in much when they stow.
There is some fuckery with how these brakes are labeled (and/or misboxed), and the 120's are about 15mm wider than 110's... I'll post more info tomorrow night.

Echoing all the other comments out there. Skied a tour on the tectons (actually more on that later). Toes are much easier to get into and heel feels really solid. Was soft heavy snow to groomed conditions. I'd imagine you would feel very confident on these of everything up to bulletproof. Also agreed that they are slightly harder to operate than Vipecs but only slightly.
My wife has some vipec blacks, and to help her with getting toes in, we switched tecton toes with hers. So currently my setup is vipec black toes + tecton heels, and she has the tecton toes with vipec heels. If I was to recommend to others, for a backcountry only with no hucking, Vipec Evo is a great setup. If you are more aggressive skiing or want to ski inbounds with them, so far Tectons feel like a winner.
looking like i am going to have to buy some 100 brakes- perhaps this has been covered but i dont see it- they are the same as vipec brakes right? anyone know of a good source? some places have unclear listings on their websites.
^^what would you say is max for the 100 brakes?
I put my heels/110 brake together and they clear a lotus 120 fine but looks like they would fetch up in the deployment process
^ That's exactly what happens. With 100 brakes from 2017 or earlier, they measure a lot wider when deployed but the ends of the arms will only clear 100mm at the topsheet.
I can't speak to a 2018 "100", some folks are saying they're 5mm wider but I don't know if they're measuring the ends at the topsheet when partially deployed, or the steel rod at the base when fully deployed.
I measured 2018 100mm brakes mounted on a 2x4 to be approx 106mm wide (inside width) at the mounting surface using a caliper. I forgot to measure the outer width when stowed.
^stick out any when stowed?
This is the half-deployed position where measurement needs to be taken. This is a 2017 90mm Vipec brake on ZeroG 95, I had to grind the ends at an angle so the ski would help spread the arms apart a bit to clear. Fully deployed, the brake arms measure 107mm at the ski base.
100mm on a DPS Wailer 106 is fine
110mm on a DPS Wailer 112 is fine (will try the 100)

It appears that the narrowest ski brakes sold in North America are nominally 100mm. Has anyone tried using the 100mm brakes on skinny (~84 mm wide) skis? Any issues with the brakes catching, when putting the skis on edge?
Got my first day of lift served on these. I am quite impressed with them still. Good conditions, but a good amount of variability, with small bumps and harder patches, plus rocks. I thought the on snow feel was excellent.
They are mounted to different skis than what I have skied with Vipecs, but I thought they felt much less vague at the heel, and I don't think Vipecs ski poorly.
So far, so great!
