    Thumbs up Snowboarders?

A lot of you in my other thread mentioned you were skiers, but are there any hardcore snowboarders around? I've been riding since I was 12, but not really seriously until about 4 years ago. I've been progressing pretty well each year, but still not where I wanna be yet, I dont think anyone is. (I did just get a new JP walker, 32 Lashed boots, and either Ride Tomcat or Burton Cartel Bindings, so that should help , im trying to build the lightest set-up possible.) Speaking of boarding is anyone else addicted to Amped 2 on xbox? SSX series gets all the reviews, but Amped 2 is SICK IMO, I couldn't have designed a better game....Xbox 360 Amped will be unreal.

I ski too, but am just really getting into it, esp freestyle. I just bought some 161 1080's from a kid on Newschoolers, but still gotta get some new boots and poles. Hopefully, as is evidenced in my other thread, I'll be able to hook up with a company somewhere other than here and have more opportunities to ride.

    Exclamation Yo, thumb king

    I slumlord...

    I don't play games.

My core is far from soft.

If your ever at Holiday Valley, I'll show you what time it is.

It's best to play the whole snowboarding thing down in this forum.

Dude, no one skis, snowboards, or telemarks here. We all just sit at our computers and worry about the state of the ski industry. Recognize!

there are a few boarders around here. we keep a low profile coz phat skis are the only cool tools nowadays.

games? no thanks. they can't hold my attention. everytime i see a new one i am amazed by the graphics but underwhelmed by the actual reality of sitting on my ass in front of a tv.

Q: What's the worst thing about being a snowboarder?

ha. You know whats funny about that. Either Ride Snowboards or Forum (cant rem) currently has a slogan in an ad "Whats the worst thing about riding a Burton, having to tell your friend that you're gay." A buddy sent me a link to gayoutdoors.org and they're pretty pissed off about it. (not that there's anything wrong with that).

    Edit: its Ride:

I dunno, considering the skiis you just bought, you should probably stick to snowboarding, as emasculating as it may be. Also, don't worry about boots/binders/poles. Use some ducttape to glue your feet to those XTREME FREESTYLR skis.

You guys that do board....are you freeride or more park? The last 3 years I've really gotten into the park/jib lifestyle, part of the reason for my 100% freestyle setup. I bought a helmet at the end of last season after getting srsly rocked a couple times, and it really gave me some balls the last few sessions I had. The parks in our local resorts aren't bad, considering.

I really don't think anything around here would be considered true freeriding anyway though, its pretty tame . . . my first winter out west, or even VT or Maine . . . I'd prob sleep on the mountain.

Freeride or park? About 50/50. Depends on the day. Pow day, of course won't even remember that there is a park. Icy / groomer day, park. Okay, actually about 40/40, with the remaining 20 on skiis.

    What ever Even,

I've scored more chicks because I was a rebel snowboarder! (that is why you hate)

My wife also hated snowboarders, but once she saw my grace and fluid motion....she could not resist.

Well said about the video games. That is exactly how i feel about them.

I boarded for 4 years- 3 at Holiday Valley, 1 in Summit County.

Skiing bumps at Holiday Valley was fun, but I had to do something new. Worked for a really cool guy at The Boardroom, and he hooked me up with gear to learn on ( once I was hooked, he knew he had the sale).

Worked for Device Mfg(step-ins) in Boulder after college. Needless to say, I rode most of the time. On the rare occasion that I busted out the 210 Pre Slaloms, I was berated to no end. That is, until I went faster and bigger than them. They learned to respect skiing, and I even got a couple of them back on skis(tele, though. Does that count?) permanently.

I always bring my board with me `on vacation, but it really doesn't get used. Shaped skis give me that same feeling as a snowboard, with the control of skiing. I just bring it for that one huge powder day. When that hits, I will take my first couple runs on my snowboard, and then go grab my MOJOs.

Glad you all had the opportunity to share outside the closet forum (where they keep that photo of Punani on a shelf). All cool peeps with great TRs and spirit. It might sound gay, but I believe the increasing infiltration of boarding and bislidual maggots here can only be good for the white vibe worldwide.

    Lightbulb remember

shaped skies were considered gay until skiers started using them in AK for "the AK size turn" Snowboarders blazed that trail with big ass deep turns instead of hop turns.

    I witnessed that transformation

What do you call a snowboarder in a three piece suite?

    Yea

I plan to edit a video of my own to add to the DVD. I'll pass it on to all yall once I get my head out of my own ass.

I wanted to document some of the positive insights Craig shared with me. I felt so blessed to have spent some one on one time with him down in NZ. He is such an icon.

If you don't want to wait I can send it as is. I also wanted to chapter-ize it.
