Positive Vibes needed STAT!!!
I just got off the phone with my mom a few minutes ago- and she had some bad news. A longtime family freind- who is virtually family- was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. He recently completed surgery and radiation. He went in for a checkup last friday because something was bothering him. Basically- the found new cancerous growths, this time in his lungs. He's heading to NYC this week to see the doctors at Sloane-Kettering.
I just talked to Joe on Monday. Of course, this was before he got the news. He was his usual self- full of humor and we talked about how we were going to have a few beers and do a few shots out of my shot ski at my birthday party next month. I really hope he makes it out of this okay. He's only fifty, and has three daughters who are still in school. I have so many memories of him- trips to Shea Stadium and Fenway Park, camping trips to Montauk, sushi dinners, cutting school to go to Jones Beach, and a ton that I can not tell anyone who's "not in the club"
Anyway, although none of you (except probably Vinman) have ever met him, he would do anything for you if he knew you were a freind of mine. Honestly, I'm more upset about this than I was when I found out I had cancer myself. If you guys can do even 1 tenth for Joe of what you did for me, I know it will do a lot.
