"Ricer" car question

So what's the deal with putting a black hood on a car that, other than that, is a different color? Is it more "core" for the car to look cobbled together or what?

If it's legit, it's a carbon fiber hood, which saves some weight.

But on lots of rice, it's probably just painted black to make it look like a cf hood from a distance.

You'd want a flat or matte black for that. Back in the day, race cars would have just a black stripe down the hood for this purpose. Much cooler lokking. IMHO.

No, I'll readily admit I have the most boring car on the planet--a Honda Accord--but some of this heavily customized cars definitely deserve derision. However, my question to begin with was legit. I really had no idea why they would want a black hood.

You can but it will not match the paint on the sheet metal. IMHO the raw Cf is much niver looking (if that's your thing) than painting it and ending up just one step too light or dark. Something in the way the paint bonds to the materials makes it impossible to match it.

And for the record, I have something awesome in my garage.

American muscle is fine but they don't hold a candle to old school rice on anything outside a straightaway. I built up a 510 in High School that would smoke new mustangs and I'm seriously considering a 240z project.

Something like this weighing in around 2200 lbs poping 270+ naturally asperated ponies with the tits handling. Oh jeah!

I disagree my friend... I have many friends with so called "Ricers" of which I must say are nice cars. BUT any true American must give respect to American Muscle and the true power they carry.

what are you thinking of dropping in there? I have a friend who dropped a SR-20DET (i think) engine from a JDM front clip into an SX240... who dreams of putting one in a 240Z. He's done research up the wazoo- if you want to I can give you some contact info for him... though an RB26 would be make serious ass clowns of almost anyone who tried to give you a go....

The sr20 is a sweet motor. It's forefather (fj20) is what I put in my 510, but the 240z is way cleaner with a built up version of its na straight 6.

I'm not sure if you knew but Toyota assembles cars in the U.S. Major Subaru base in Indiana too.

In Sonora, Hermosillo is home to a Ford plant and it continues to expand. GM as well has a few plants outside of the U.S. Executive decisions about Chrysler are made in Germany. There's a reason why there's so many flights into and out of Germany via DTW. China as well.

That's globalization for you, my friend.

Oh I rip on ricers every chance I get.

They're huge cop magnets and every time one gets pulled over, I know that in addition to their traffic violation, they're getting slapped with huge fines for stupid shit like obnoxiously loud exhausts & tinted windows... You get the idea.

Heh. They make excellent minesweepers on long drives.
