Is it ever going to stop raining?

I thought we lived in an effing desert.

    Grr. GRR.

It is wicked green out, though, which is rad. And with the ground wet we can rebuild the rhythms at I-Strizzle.

Meh, I guess it's not that bad. But I need to practice my moooves for CS's arrival .

    I WANT TO RIDE.

At least yesterday the trail was in the best condition EVER. You could rail switchbacks like they were paved.

I just rode Glen Wilde loop last friday for the first time, kind of a fun short loop for being right next to I-80!

I'm predicting that I Street will be choice this evening. I'm also predicting that I'll be glad that the berm into the Gulley drop won't be sand covered and deadly.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Thank god for I Strizzle. Without it and its quick draining action I would be looney toons by this point. It was sick on monday night, except the sun is in yer eyes from 7:30-800pm on the left hand line into the drop/step up.
I'm starting to get nervous about my lack of full speed trail rallying and the upcoming races, I've barely done anything but jump this spring.

Wow summer hours ROOL! I got out of work late and bumped into bag and frizzo as they were leaving I Street. Got on the bike at 8:25pm and there were still at least 12 people killing it at I Street.

So I had to join in the fun and got over my fears of taking the 'little bike' (only 6" travel) into the lefty/gully/step-up line. Sadly though my original worst fears were realized--not making the stepup and falling back into THE PIT. Ugh. This saddens me b/c I thought my Big Hit was so plush it was the reason I wasn't clearing the stepup very well in the past. I was convinced my Foes would carry me over the lip effortlessly. Alas, no:

attempt 1: don't even get the front wheel over the lip, stick a foot out, hang on for dear life, slide backwards towards the pit, grab the lip and haul myself up.

attempt 2: roll smoother and with good speed and get one wheel over the lip, still sorta dab a foot to keep the bike rolling up and over. Relief and stoked that NEXT TIME I'll know exactly how to pump over the lip.

attempt 3: all is going well, nailing the lefty line, pumping perfectly over all the doubles, rail the berm, drop, gully pump, and with all my mind and body WILL myself towards the lip. Only there was a bit too much WILLING and I yanked back hard on the bars off of a near-vertical take-off. Once airborne I feel myself floating backwards slowly and freak out and push forward as hard as I can. I land rear-wheel first and *nearly* flip backwards into the abyss below me, JUST saving it.

OK at least attempt 2 was sorta OK, I call it a night at 9:05 and there are still 8 people jumping. Sweet. Summer kicks ass. (except for the no skiing part)

Yipe, Particle, nice story. Glad you're OK.

We dug the landing of the first Rhythm for like an hour and a half and seems like we hardly made any progress. Whoever flattened that shit out should get hit with a shovel.

Anyhizzle, I think we can rebuild it to either a 3- or 4-pack, with route straight through or an optional li'l hip that takes you into the gulley line. But it's gonna take some digging.

Now off to work so I can leave at a reasonable hour and ride XC

Theres a guy who rides a Staats 4x bike that is your nemesis on those rhythms....he wanted that first one to be a 20+ft long super fast jump with a long landing, then a roller then another big double...all bmx track steez. I think normal rhythms would be better myself, but that line is pretty much cursed, it needs to be completely rebuilt.

In regards to that gulley move Particle, you gotta land the drop, compress, and stay compressed all the way through the bottom and up the stepup, then pop. Landing, recovering(decompressing) then trying to pump and pop the stepup doesn't work so well. Just think about pushing on your fork all the way through the bottom.

My 8am mission this mornign was good, almost ran over a rabbit in the bottom of the gulley on my first run, but got the flow and threw my first big no footers up the step up a little later.
Before leaving I picked up about 15 plastic bottles, heckle any groms you see dropping or leaving stuff. Give a hoot, don't pollute.

I was clearing that step-up with some regularity before I fell off the drop. Now my pooner is getting in the way, and I keep casing it.

You really gotta shove the bike into the landing, trying to get as much of the tranny as you can.

And Bag is all about getting a lot of the tranny.

Flow: Yeah, that thing looks totally fuXored. I think it'd be nice to have a rhythm where one of the jumps has a hip alternative that you can take to the gulley line.

I'm all for rebuilding those things. For squishys, though, can you ride tanner-park style jumps? Or do they need to be longer? I worked on the jumps at Tanner a lot when I was learning to jump, but don't want to build something that 90% of I-Street clientele can't ride.

Yeah I've been told that by the guys up there before Flow...it's super frustrating that I'm not dropping it smoothly enough to press into the transition. It's more of a blur/OMG/recover/point uphill to the takeoff...I need to spend a few hours up there working on it. The best success I've had is throwing in a crank at the gully bottom on my big bike. Next week...

I don't mind the rain, but can it please start raining in the morning or overnight and not in the afternoon when I am getting off work.

Is that too much to ask.

Oh and ya'll keep up the good work progressing.

Edit: I guess I will just have to get a 12 pack and a shovel and hit my dirt jumps up again.

Yeah, I kind of figured out who was who from talking to Nora and Jackie. If the rain stays away again today I'll be up there. I went up last night, but I had no bizness being up there, I was a bit worked from race runs all weekend and with the wind and wet soil it was a bit slow. Clearing the step up was tough.

    Aww, poor baby.

We'll be up there tomorrow, hopefully kinda early. Maybe today but I'm kinda spanked from extreme gardening all weekend.
