I don’t think giving up is the message. But we need to work within the bounds of reality. The new zero targets are beyond impossible. We’d need to be building new nuke plants by the dozen monthly, starting years ago to meet the IPCC targets. It’s just not possible.

That doesn’t mean give up and do nothing. We can do better and we likely are. But to more forward in a positive way we need to start with realism. Not insane targets and promises.

It’s clear warming is here. We need to be realistic and start acting like adults. Adaption should be the focus. Because reducing emissions to the ipcc targets will never happen.

Yes Sir "we need to work within the bounds of reality".
Let`s start with the skiing. What can be done?

STOP THE GROOMERS AND SNOW MAKERS.

Again, adaptation is well and good for human beings. What about everything else on this planet?

Why would I do that? It will probably happen as things worsen and people are starving, can no longer afford to have children and world wars erupt as humans become more and more desperate.

But, if it's my time it's my time. I've already taken that attitude with my stance in no longer wearing a mask and purposely opening myself up to covid exposure.

I get a kick reading people’s comments on “Climate Change “ . This is a ski forum where people engage in a very energy intensive sport. Don’t be too harsh with people who disagree.

If you live a few feet above sea level I’d be more concerned with tsunamis than a gradual increase in sea levels. I saw a NOAA prediction years ago that projected 8” in 200 years.

Like RA said Mother Nature will deal with us parasites one way or another. I think a curve ball like a Megga Volcano could tilt things in the opposite direction . In the meantime I’m enjoying the banter.

If "life"= Cockroaches and other resilient and disgusting insects. This rock is an estimated 4 billion years old, won't be the first cleansing, won't be the last.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    FKNA right!

We aren't as big of a deal as we want to believe we are. Humanity can be wiped away in the blink of an eye.

Airhead is right saying "This is a ski forum"!
So lets talk about saving energy in the ski sport.
    What can we do?

Just follow the guy in this vid and make all groomers obsolete.

Over the history of this planet, species come species go. Its nothing new. Expecting the earth to be the same forever as we've known it is wishful thinking. This is not defeatist thinking, its the reality of our planet. We can do our better but expecting solar panels etc to stop the earth from doing what's its been doing since the start of time is silly.

And maybe humans are natures designed catalyst to put earth into it's next cycle. Like maybe we are just doing our job and doing it really well?

Fixed it for you. Before all this bullshit tribalism we were able to work together to save the ozone layer and end global lead poisoning/leaded fuel.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

solar panels and wind farms are seriously fucking up desert ecosystems and wildlife populations here in the south west.

I'm not saying that they aren't better than burning fossil fuels but they are having far greater consequences then as originally sold to us by the far left and the eco nuts.

That checks out. Humans have always been assholes to the environment. Even as we nomadically moved south through North America we hunted some species to extinction.

They are very far from a panacea. Solar waste will be a big issue and wind farms f up birds and whales.

It’s myopic thinking. Fossil fuel CO2 bad. Anything else is perfect.

I'm guessing you are paid by the fossil fuel industry because you keep spouting the same old well-worn (and untrue) talking point.

Were you the guy that repeatedly posted anti-vaccine propaganda here and then got long covid?

I honestly don't remember exactly what you posted - maybe it was anti-lockdown instead?

I got covid and long haul. The vaccine wasn’t an option when I got infected. I wasn’t spreading anti vax, anti lockdown stuff. I expressed my concern of getting vaxxed after infection as I didn’t want to get worse.

The truth is, that all of the other forms of energy are still dependent, to varying extents, on combustion of petroleum products. Decreasing total energy usage is the only way to avoid adding to the problem.

The needed change is in the psyches of humans, to where there isn't an internal imperative to relieve anxiety through all the distractions of merchandise and media, And having the biggest most powerful everything that others have, and the most of it, and aspiring to living high on the hog.

Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.-Jesus of Nazareth

A new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move toward higher levels. -Albert Einstein
