    Still snowing in the Wasatch

Coming down as graupel this morning in the Solitude village, and the ground is white again. Nice thunderstorm going on as well with large lightening strikes and very cool temps. Should make for some curious riding conditions at the Bird if they can keep the Tram running. I wouldn't want to be camping up here this morning, but sitting in this "office-aquarium" and watching the storm isn't too bad.

yea, it's a little heavier than the "pitter-patter" on the office roof right now in Park City - lots of thunder and lightning with a bit of hail.

I suppose all this rain is the silver lining in the fact that I have to work today.

Your silver lining is buzz-kill for my planned day of skiing at the Bird. When I last called Snowbird for a current conditions update, they said "thunder, lightning, rain and dense fog. The tram is currently closed."

Looks like I'm checking things off my honey-do list today.

Hey it must be pretty quiet up there. What is the coverage like on ski runs? I hope to be out in June for some hikin' and bikin'.

The snow fell heavily and continuously throughout our entire breakfast this morning on the Bird plaza. After some hearty Bonar Burritos we hung around the plaza waiting for final word on opening.
Around 10 it was decided that due to a couple of storm cells still lurking about and a water deluge coming off two miles of haul rope it would be safer to announce a closed day than get a few people up top only to have a problem later.
We were pretty bummed when the snow kept accumulating. Then, when one of the trollers came across the bridge proudly wearing a shiz-eating grin, he described to us how incredible Reg was with the 9-10 inches of new. Creamy. Perfect. We were really bummed. It must have been fun up top this morning! May 30th pow. Dang it's been a good season.

It's Memorial Day. We're down to the last 5 weeks of the chairlift season, ladies and gents!

    9-10??
I drove up LCC last night and it sure didn't look like 9-10; looked more like 4-6 and that's about what the plots show.
Must be that 'Bird reporting factor of 2

    Sounds nice none the less.

Yea, because the 1" of water at that plot (there's only one NWS site still reporting precip. info in LCC), some of which fell as rain or sleet due to its lower elevation, couldn't possibly have translated into 10" of 10% snow at the top.

BP, thank you for confirming that 9-10" yesterday was indeed probable.
I guess Xover would have rather had me think the troller had some reason to lie to me....
