I was part of a group of 5 yesterday. 2 were on E's.

We stop at a major 5 way junction that is very open and many stop to regroup and game plan. It's flat and on what I would call a green trail. We're off to the side so there is plenty of room to pass no matter what direction you're going. A full face ebiker comes flying thru and as he passes bitches about getting out of the way.
That right there is the problem with ebike mentality and difficult for me and the guys I was riding with to rise above and not call the guy an asshole. Mtn biking (in my world) has always been about fun and if you see a group or a solo guy you greet them with a pleasantry, not blow by screaming. Now if we were on a Down or some flow section, sure, fly by and stay focused. Even then I say "hey".

There's little, if any regulation of any of them, and even if there was, enforcement is problematic because they all look somewhat similar.

So it pretty much gets left up to the rider to make an intelligent choice as to where and how to ride them. And that works exactly as well as you'd expect it to.

Yeah, the guy I was writing about was riding in the left lane, west bound of Huffine near 23rd. 45mph zone and heavy traffic. Looked sketchy as fuck. Last year we had to P-bikers run over and killed while using the designated bike lanes. Up the ante.

Seems a bit stupid but who is to say?

God damn, you click on ONE link for these stupid mopeds and their advertising follows you everywhere.

Usually that's a big red flag for me...I get the usual targeted ads following a search for a specific product, but this is like they bid out every single ad-view I could possibly get across every device and platform. Tells me that despite offering an already fairly low price, they must be selling a hunk of junk with a huge markup for it to be worth sending you that many ads.

I searched for this company the other day after another poster mentioned them--this link just reminded me that I've been seeing nothing but ads for these 1up Revv mopeds since then.

Intelligent choice, ha. Shops selling them provide zero education on where they are allowed or not allowed. And even if they did, half the riders DGAF and will ride wherever they want anyways.

When it's got a motor attached to it. Then it's a moped. I know, the truth hurts....

They might sell them, but they probably don’t work on the cheap Chinese scooters.
I’m looking at cargo bikes for my DIL and grandson. I visited a bunch of shops yesterday and they all lamented the lack of support the cheap Chinese brands offer.
Most will never run, after the first time they break. They’re just not worth fixing.

E waste is probably my biggest gripe and yes, some places are just overrun by Birds, Scooters and One Wheels. I was just in South Beach Miami, holy shit that place is fucked.

Still I’m a big supporter of E-Bikes and their proper use.
I’d much rather see a bunch of Milfs picking up the kids with cargo bikes,
    than Range Rovers.

    Is that realistic? Seriously?

Anything that puts less autos on the roads is 100% a good thing however those MILFs love their Suburbans/Excursions/Land Rovers etc.

A bicycle is a two wheeled vehicle powered solely by a human. This is the FS definition and I feel it’s accurate.

Anything with an electric motor is a moped or pedelec if you’re a chinaman like XXXer

So, XXX has no frame of reference here. He's like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie...

Everyone is entitled to an opinion I guess. Judging from some comments a Bicycle is anything with 2 wheels that some want it to be. From Penny-farthing to KZ1000.

And the FS opinion is just that. The same Org. that bans Bicycles from areas where it allows aircraft and Jet boats.

Bicycles can fly and float? Where do I find one?

If you’re going to talk about opinions, what’s your definition of a bicycle? I think before ebikes became a thing the FS definition would be what everyone would agree on as the definition of a bicycle. Enlighten us if you don’t agree

    Oh? You mean MY opinion?

FWIW I no longer give a shit but, a Bicycle is 100% human powered, no assist. But I am not going to ruin my day fretting about what other people choose to do or ride. Life is too short.

I do like flipping people shit about it though.

If you really wanna get under the super thin skinned enduro-bros, do what I do. Ask them if they make a men's version, without the battery.

I really have no problem with people riding class 1 e-bikes where they are allowed. I don’t think our definition of what a bicycle is, is debatable by any objectively minded person.

It's kind of like Michael Pollan's definition of "food". Would your great grandmother recognize it as food?

The fact that bicycles don't have motors is so obvious that any disagreement points to disingenuousness. Moped boosters must make an argument for the inclusion of their machines on the merits, not by trying to redefine a long standing understanding of the word bicycle.
