Nope, don't have the calipers.
What is really weird is my buddy was in the area of 235 lbs, I clock in at 195. He never had slip issues with the seatpost that is currently in the seat tube. I pulled the post, took off the saddle and installed on the new post. But just try and find a tube of Carbon Paste in what is suppose to be a small bicycle oriented city.
The local REI was nice enough to give me a dab of CP for the last attempt but I used it up. Just placed an online order w/Jenson, should be here Tuesday.
On the same note, was in one of the better though of shops yesterday, not only did they not have CP, they didn't have any Tire sealant in stock except for Slime.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I bought a used Giant Revolt frame online and it didn't come with a seat post. It's the previous generation Revolt and only takes D-Fuse post. The new models take both a D-fuse and traditional 30.9. I didn't want to shell out $125 for a D-Fuse post when I have tons of high end round carbon posts in my garage. Luckily I was able to pull a D-Fuse off of a newer bike in my work fleet and replace it with a traditional 30.9 seat post.
Make sure you have the D-Fuse wedge in the bike, there is a round one for traditional 30.9 and a flatter curved one for the D-Fuse post.
In order for that clap to be effective it needs to have grease (Red arrows) on both wedge faces and on the bolt threads (red spiral), and fiber grip on the wedge (blue), the post, and the frame inner surface. The grease helps the wedges slide on each other and put proper pressure on the post.
It's not the best design, but all of the wedges that I have pulled out and lubed the wedges and bolt, and fiber gripped the post have been trouble free for my clients. Don't be afraid to go a little higher than the stated 6nm on the tighten, maybe up to 8nm.

Do you need a D post? I have extras.

^^^ Thanks. I pulled out the other post. No idea why he was using the one on the bike as the spare is a much nicer post with a much better rail clamp system. I ordered a big bottle to Orange seal, some CP and a new pair of shorts from Jenson. Be here Tuesday.
It was good to be able to rant and get it out of my system.

Geeze, had the first crazy hiker of the season encounter today. Saw this older lady from a hundred yards away and rolled up behind her at walking pace.
Politely asked her 3 times over 90 secs if I could please please pass. Nada. So my son yells at her 'Hey Lady, can we pass' Still nothing, so I hop off my bike and speed walk around her.
When I'm right beside her she finally notices me and pops out her earbuds and starts yelling at me that me and my 'big bike' scared her... . Totally freaking out. I ask her what she wants me to do, I've been behind her yelling at her for the last 2 minutes to get by, and she tell me that she 'just had a close friend die and I don't know what other people are going thru'.
WTF? I was really trying to be a considerate human being and courteous cyclist..

I'm your dead friends ghost and I specifically came here to scare you...biatch!
I had my first about a month ago. 3 greybeards hiking in a pod in the direction I was headed, and I saw them 100 yards ahead so slowed down. I had a Timberbell open, so they heard me, and two turned and stepped aside. The 3rd kept walking, because he’s a hiker and has the right-of-way. He damn well wasn’t going to move for me until he glanced over his shoulder and recognized me. And I had already figured out he who was. He’s one of our louder voices on the need for trail etiquette RULES. Then he stopped and greeted me, but I’m certain he wouldn’t have if he didn’t know me.
yeah fucking Americans eh
you absolutely do not want to bike the Camino cuz you will have to pass literaly 100's of hikers each day all lost in meditative thot & music so when you ride by it freaks them out,
ringing a bell does not work, the best way is to hit the brakes about 30ft away which scares the fuck out of them so you can ride by in safety for the both of you

Fuckin' people with earbuds in using trails without any awareness of anything else or any other trail user bug the shit out of me. I've quit being nice about it and blow past most without saying "on your left" or "may I please pass" because they wouldn't have heard me anyways.
Most classic example of this was climbing up Hulls Gulch and I roll up near a trail runner, ask nicely if I can pass, then ask again a little way further, then yell "hey, can I pass you?" right as I'm on her heels and she is surprised I'm there and yells at me telling me to let her know that I was there. I told her to turn down the volume of her music and be aware of others on the trail. Left it at that. WTF people?
I use bone conduction headphones (Shokz OpenMove) for listening to podcasts while hiking or pedaling uphill, and they are pretty awesome because your ear canal is unobstructed and you hear everything happening around you as well. More hikers and bikers need to use that shit.

My brother recently bought a relatively recent (2021) used ebike off one of my friends to enable him to get back into MTB after spinal surgery. On about the 4th ride, the front saddle clamp bolt pulls through the upper saddle clamp of the Fox Transfer. A quick search of the internet indicates that is a very common failure of that year of Transfer. There apparently were replacement parts, except it's now impossible to get the standard 7mm round upper clamp in the USA. Nowhere online carries it, and my buddy at a bike shop confirmed he can't get it on QBP or from Fox. You can get the upper clamp for 9x7mm oval rails, but Fox specifically says that it's only for those. I told him to order the 9mm version and try it because I'm pretty sure that those carbon oval rails are the same width, just taller, so the upper clamp radius should still match his normal steel rails.
But still... how the fuck is it OK for a major company (that's still in business) to have a product with common failures, and discontinue the replacement part within 3 years?
You're looking for the 2021 Transfer, Saddle Clamp, Upper 7mm round, correct?
The part has not been discontinued. Fox made a running change during the production of this part to fix the know problem of customers incorrectly and way over torquing the bolt, resulting in the bolt being pulled though the clamp.
The replacement part is sometimes listed under either part number. New Part # of 225-00-468 or the older part # of 225-00-225.
Shops are not going stock multiple small parts that have the ability to become obsolete.
QBP Pennsylvania has a restock date of 6/24, and both Nevada and Colorado expect them in July. Did your shop buddy tell you this?
A quick google search and I found it online in a few USA shops and plenty of Europe sites that will ship to NA (and usually get here quicker than USA shipping methods)
Bike Bling IN STOCK Transfer Saddle Clamp (third line in my google search)
The pulled though hole can be opened (drilled out to 5mm) and a traditional cap bolt and appropriate sized washer will work to keep them ridding until the new part arrivers. It works to secure the saddle. It just makes adjustments not an easy, as you need to set the replacements bolt's position first, and adjust the tension with the opposite bolt.
Thanks. Yes, I figured out that part number (225-00-468) which was what I was searching for. Even though it comes up on Google searches, when you click it shows out of stock. In my experience (from prior purchase attempts for other parts), both BikeBling and Velomine don't actually have inventory. I don't expect local shops to carry every little part, but I was surprised not to find it at the web stores who typically have stuff like that.
It's all good though. He reached out to Fox and they're sending him the part free - just needed to send photo of damaged part & serial number. I guess they keep a stock for warranties.
My son bought a used Evil Following and it came with a threadless OneUp EDC cap/tool thing. The fucking tool is so tight in there you need a couple other tools to beat it out.
Pulled the fucking thing out tonight and put the star nut back in. What a joke....

FWIW, Bikebling is a local San Diego shop that carries a pretty good inventory in store, and also with web presence obviously. They are notorious for having a poor inventory tracking system though. I've gone in there to try stuff on, decided to buy it and had the owner tell me I can't because it's been sold online. Or been told on the phone something was in stock, then when I show up they can't find it. Because it's not actually in stock. The owner is also notorious for taking phone calls in the middle of a conversation with you and just walking away without a word. So kind of a shitty place. I used to have a friend who worked there but stopped going when he stopped working there. He was the only employee you could get reliable answers from.
Yeah, the first thing I did when I got it out was grease it. But I was just looking at it, and the previous owner put the allen key set in the holder upside down... When you put it in the right way everything works ok. Kind fitting with the condition/maintenance done on the bike. when we got it...

I bought a discounted Shimano 12 speed Deore cassette that was clearly a "new take off" but when I recieved it, it had an HG freehub body. I was pretty sure all 12 speed Shimano cassettes were Microspline but maybe they made OEM ones for certain brands?
Very strange.
