That’s not what holding up a finger for one means, motherfucker. That’s a fist. At least it is for snowmobiles and shit.

    Right?

Also, we’re on bikes. I was hauling a little ass but not so fast he couldn’t say he was riding alone.

I wanted to stop and educate him, in a friendly way. A tendency that horrifies my fiancé who was the one behind me. Not being positive she was far enough back to miss the exchange, I just kept riding.

I never use hand signals on a trail because I’m using my hands…

I ran the stick for a number of engineering out fits and they all did sketchy things, forgot equipment, show up with dead batteries, radios with dead batteries, one guy lost 3 days of data and a few weeks later almost killed me

the BC licensed landsurvey out fit was the best to work for and yeah they were 200 a day mo money but I think it was probably worth it

Not to mention half the riders have their heads up their asses and wouldn't see a hand signal anyways. I only do hand signals when I encounter motos since they probably can't hear. Other mtb riders I'll say how many are behind, but usually only bother if there is eye contact.

I will occasionally use hand signals if I suspect the oncoming bicycle rider is wearing headphones.

Good assumption. If I were on your trail I would prove it.

All the gout patients I’ve taken care of respond really well to colchicine. Shockingly well. It’s like crack. Sucks the gout crystals right outta there.
Hope you find something that works for you. From a foot perspective, this could be a lot more easily managed than bunions.

OK, DT 240 design, I generally love you. But please have just a tiny bit of friction fit action the next time I’m working on a wheel barefoot, mmmk?

4 days on ‘roids for inflammation and I’m almost back. Starting to taper them and should be able to pedal a bit next weeks walking is still a little wonky

Thanks. I’ll ask the doc about that.

New XT pedals are $130 and not on sale anywhere. They last a few years but geez I don't think I've spent over $100 for pedals ever before

Next rant. Yet another cyclist killed by a vehicle on the road in Boulder.

I was in Boulder yesterday and wanted to kill a driver who road raged on me. Cut me off from behind and proceeded to give me the finger WHILE SHE HAD HER PHONE TO HER EAR. Driving a new Lexus SUV. BLUETOOTH BITCH!

I chased her for a minute and she took off but fuck man I was ready to go to jail

Someone severely loosened all of the lugnuts off of one side of my wife's car. Thank god she told me something sounds weird before they fell off. One broken lug, so I had to pull the hub bearing. I guess people have been stealing tires around town because new ones are so expensive. She indicated she come out of work to her car the other day and some guy ran off. Think she caught the dude mid stride. Anyway, not how I wanted to spend my Friday morning or vacation time.

Look X-track pedals are SPD and IMO even better than Shimano pedals. Recent sales had the carbon ones for $80.

That is fucked. So crazy to just have a car rear end you like you're not even there. Sounds like the kid had a really bright future.

That's why I insist on riding on the "wrong" side. I trust my ability to eject far more than a drivers ability to stay in their lane.
My wife came around to my way of thinking after a friend got hit from behind last year.

Very, very sad. I’d seen him riding, hard to miss that stars and stripes jersey.

The accident was on a 4 lane highway with a wide shoulder that alot of people ride to connect other routes north of Boulder. But I always thought it was too many cars going too fucking fast for my safety.

The number of ghost bikes around here is disturbing.

They were half off a week ago but still under your $100 mark currently.

Your reasoning is sound, but unfortunately, it's likely illegal.

Getting hit from behind is pretty rare too. Your bigger risk is that someone turning from a side road is mainly looking the other way and less likely to see you. And you're kind of a hazard to cyclists riding on the right side of the road.

I just bought one of those garmin varias with the camera. Seems neat but it's very annoying how expensive they are. A basic set of "dash cams" maybe powered by a central battery that didn't cost hundreds of dollars seems like it would be a good idea. You can get them for your car for like $40-50.

Not that they will prevent someone from hitting you but having video evidence and having a lot of cyclists sending video of dangerous driving to the police and putting it on youtube etc might accomplish something. Since safer roads and more attentive drivers don't seem to be in the cards.
