If you want to fit in, rant about standards, or SRAM sucking.

if i've learned one thing from the mags, it is that electric bikes may or may not belong on non-motorized trails.
swing your fucking sword.
All you needed to know, you may go now.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
"Happiest years of my life were earning < $8.00 and hour, collecting unemployment every spring and fall, no car, no debt and no responsibilities. 1984-1990 Park City UT"
I paid MSRP for a brand new Yeti SB130 T2 this fall. It has been in and out of the shop with mechanical issues 4 times in 6 rides. The front brake started acting up (screaming whenever I use it) on my third ride. I rode one more time to see if it was a fluke, then took it into the shop after ride 4. Shop thought it may be contaminated and took it apart and cleaned it out with alcohol.
It started happening a little bit on ride 5, now on ride six today it happened every time I touched the front break.
I took it back to the bike shop today. They think it may need new pads, or maybe the caliper is bad. The rotor isn't perfectly flat. Maybe time for a new rotor as well. It's got like 40 miles after all.
Someone once told me to budget $75 per ride for parts and maintenance on high end mountain bikes. At the time I thought they were joking.
Who is the main wrench at Habitat these days?

Kevo if it's a SRAM brake rotor sand the rotor. I changed my wife's brake pads twice before figuring out there was a fine glaze on the SRAM rotor
I've basically just never had any expectation that my brakes would be quiet all the time. Fresh rotors and the organic pads with a proper bed in is pretty good but metallic and/or a little dirt/contamination is going to make some noise. I just look on the positive side in that it gives hikers and bears and stuff a heads up that I'm coming.
They got super Dickish (management) to long time riding locals, myself included. It’s sad.
(Even though I am technically en ex-pat)

I just sand down the pads with drywall sandpaper, works a treat. Go down enough to sand off the contamination.
Tip: put the drywall sandpaper on the shop floor, and vigorously rub (heh) the pad on the ‘paper‘.
(It’s more like metal?)
Much more leverage that way.

Anti-rant!!!
Just mounted up a 29 x 2.6 front mud tire (Spesh Hillbilly) ... old tire pulled off easily without messing up the rim tape, then new tire went on with no tire levers. I had the eyewear and ear protection on when firing up the compressor ... and seated with no sound whatsoever! No snap pop explosion bang ping ... nothing! Inflated perfectly true, holds air!
That’s gotta be the MTB equivalent of a perfect shit!

What I’m hearing you say is, you got a bike and the bike is fine. But it came with shitty SRAM brakes and the shop isn’t being helpful getting the brakes sorted out.
Plan 1. Get mad at them and demand they provide you with reliable brakes, or else!
Plan B. Buy a set of XT brakes and RT76 rotors and call it a day.
Plan iii. Keep letting the shop dick around and try to make you feel like it’s your fault.
Plan IV. Go to one of those Tribe gatherings where they will help you make happy again.
