"We're a really bad team right now."

Says Johnny Damon. Part three of the epic battle begins tonight at 7:00 EST... Johnson vs. Wakefield. I love this game.

    slumping early this year.
    in need of a spark.
    manny, WAKE THE FUCK UP!

with three against the yankees now, and four with the O's next this streatch could be a turning point in the season. up or down.

however, the sox were seven games back at the break last year. and we know what happened.

well, the Rockies and Royals are "really bad" (what happened to the S word?). The Sox won't do it with that pitching staff. no way.

say, the target of Sox clubhouse derision is leading the majors in home runs. howboutthat.

Don't even try to say your teams suck. Because the Rockies really fucking suck. If we are going to do anything right this year, the least we can do is be the worst team in Major League Baseball.

Man, I hope that us folks get some redemption here in Redbird Nation in two weeks - not as meaningful, but it will help heal a couple wounds.

The Rockies, unfortunately, will always suck, because no pitcher in his right mind will sign a contract to play there. Remember Hampton?

The Sox really need to get someone in the rotation to take over for Wells. I'm sure Beane and Theo are talking about Zito... I could see a Zito for Hanley Ramirez trade coming soon. That wouldn't be a bad pickup.

you really think oakland will let zito go?

ramirez isnt a plug in player, yet. at least thats what they tell me. he needs a few more years at AAA.

while Wells has been bad to pretty bad. i dont think he's going to be dropped from the rotation.

i also think mister profane is wrong about the sox staff. its possible for them to win with the staff as it is now. provided shilling makes a return.

I almost guarantee Oakland will let Zito go. He's useless on that team with their complete lack of offense. Beane will want a lot in return- the other thing I thought of is that Beane is hard over the greek god of walks, so a package of Youkilis and Ramirez might be good for him.

And for Wells.... he might suck now, but you know he's money in the playoffs and September. It should be an interesting year with the Sox, Yanks, and O's... and yes, this is coming from a Yankees fan.

Theres no way the Sox trade a top 10 prospect IN ALL OF BASEBALL for barry zito. The guy's K rate has declined every year since his cy young campaign, his BB rate has increased at the same time. A flyball-prone lefty who walks a ton of people in Fenway - sounds like a great idea! Lets give up the farm for him!

Congrats to the yankees - they won 15 of 17 against three of hte worst teams in baseball and the Tigers. They did what good teams are supposed to do - beat really shitty ones.

Stump, you might be surprised what some teams will do when they need pitching. Especially young pitching.

And 15 of 17 is great no matter who you're playing... look before you leap here though- the Sox lost series to the A's and Seattle (same teams the Yanks beat) before getting swept by the Blue Jays. Either way it'll be another fun series to watch this weekend and the season is still young.

Lloyd, Zito is neither "young" nor cheap, nor at all desirable. Hes the exact opposite of everything the organization looks for in a pitcher (i.e., controlling the strike zone). If the sox were so desperate for him, why didn't they make a trade this past offseason when all of Beane's horses were on the market? Thats right, because they preferred Wells, whose career K/BB ratio is infinitely better than Zito's.

They aren't trading a blue chip prospect for a 26 year old pitcher who doesn't strike anyone out and has shown nothing for the last 2 years. Since Theo took over, the club has not made any panic moves - why would this year be any different?

    Wells is money...

if you're a bartender or a hot dog salesman. Cut that fat Yankee fuck.

Clement is a much better pitcher than last year because of Varitek, and Arroyo is better than anyone gives him credit for. If Shill can come back healthy, and Miller stays solid, the sox rotation won't be in bad shape. Zito would be nice, but not worth mortgaging the future for. I'm more concerned with Embree and Foulke right now. Rather than Zito, I'd rather see Theo trade for a dominating closer.

Yanks are on fire right now. Forget about WHO they beat, they're 15 of 17 against major league clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if they sweep. But anything can happen when these two teams face each other.

Thank god for baseball and the UEFA cup, because the NBA is BOOOORING!

Man it's all you hear about, and it's the only sport where a close game is more boring than a blow out. Foul. Time out. Foul shot. Substitution. Foul Shot. In bounds. Foul. Time out. Foul shot.... :YAWN!: God I hope we have hockey next year...

Seriously. I think every "close" NBA playoff game this year has been, at one point, a 15-20 point lead by the team that lost. Its almost (wink, wink) like the NBA is rigging it that way to keep fans interested. I just don't understand how the college players lose ALL of their intensity and desire once they get to the NBA. Oh well... back to the baseball talk.

    The Devil-Rays?

I hope that third base coach rethinks his approach.

oh jeez, people have short memories. 2 seasons ago, starts the second game of the series after joking to reporters that he "doesn't have to work out" (reference to fellow Yankee Clemens' obsession about staying in shape). Lasts, what was it, 1 1/3 innings, "back pain", Yanks blow series. fat fuck.

Speaking of which, the Rocket may be back with the Yanks this season if the Astros continue to suck. You heard it here first.

I hope the sarcasm translator just didn't come through on that one... because we've all heard about Clemens to the Yanks from everyone that has anything to do with baseball.
