things might start shaping up. i'm going to take it as it comes. i've just bought a flight to turin for jan 15-19 for me and the lady. i'm figuring i'm either going to take her to monterosa or courmayeur, depending on who has better snow. the trick here is that i'm also going to buy an extra return ticket for myself on jan 25. if the conditions are good, i'll probably just take the rest of the week off work and head over to la grave.

Was planning on St. Anton, Austria at that time but accomodation has not yet been booked.
I fly into Zurich on the 17th and out on the 25th but to change flights will cost me $ so maybe if there is a train that can get me to France for less then the cost of rearranging flights..........

Flanker, normally I'd say sack wherever you're going and come to La Grave (which you should if you can) but St. Anton is very cool. Fantastic skiing and fantastic drinking. So basically, whatever you do you're onto a winner.

Weather models show a serious circulation change in the next 2weeks towards W-NW weather with snow down to 1000m and below. (and i hope for a lot of it.)
Hope is renewed, but nothing is certain. i'll be more precise around tuesday/wednesday.

I can't give you a place to crash because I'm already dirtbagging on some friends floor (they don't really know that yet...) but I can probably help you fix up somewhere cheap - cheapest will be about 10-12 euros per night (if you're into being really cheap).

Tell me here what kind of place you're into and I'll come up with some suggestions. You'll get best value over a week but getting an appartment - it can still work that way over less than a week too but not normally over a w/e.

As for hunger - I have a friend who was too poor to buy food a couple of seasons ago. He took a plastic bag of sugar and a spoon in his pack every day and ate that. He survived

Yup, thats what I was thinking for a scheduale(sp) Prob. leave hanau thurs afternoonish. I'm definately into being really cheap. find the cheapest place you can. I'd rather have cash for food and tasty beverages. I can (and have! ) sleep in a ditch as long as I can pay for skiing! I'm gettin stoked! Mulletizer! Do you know where you got that pricing panel for Chalet de la Meje from? I tried booking it with Philippe and hge didn't recognise the prices!

I've got me, Chris, BrownMonkey, Truth, Ripzalot and Hayduke down for a six-man and just waiting for Philippe to get back with the revised rate (was €505 with the hot tub etc).
