    Canon 6D Refurbished

Canon has refurbished 6Ds back in stock.

First I need to clear the purchase with my wife.

Second, if I buy this, is there anyone here that is looking to get rid of an EF Lens with a range somewhere between 20 and 100mm? I already have EF lenses covering 11-17mm and 70-200mm.

Right now I'm looking at a refurbed EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for $649.

The $1800 price tag for both the body and the lens is going to be a tough one to swallow.

Scour Fred Miranda for that lens. You can find em' for about $400 or so. I have it and I like it. It's not perfect but it's quite good, and I find the range very usable for most of my shooting.

Yep, what ^^^^ said. Get the 24-105 f/4L, there's really no other comparable option I'd consider. You should be able to find one in good shape for $400-450.

The 6D is awesome, by the way.

Have you been shooting crop sensor? Can't wait to see what images you capture on FF. I've been using the 6d for weddings the last 2 seasons and I love it. Looking forward to the mark ii.

I'm a huge fan of the Sigma Art series, the 24 is reasonably priced with great image quality. I've rented the 35 a few times and it's just as impressive. I just saw they released a 50-100 as well, pretty pricey though. (edit: it's apparently for crop sensor)

On a budget, you can't beat the Canon 85 1.8.

Yes, I think I've pretty much maxed out what my T3i can do and I want something with better low light performance

    Unfortunately...

I got reminded that all of our money is dedicated to a Disney trip next winter. You're welcome Mickey

Thanks for all of the advice above. Someday maybe I'll be able to make the leap to FF.

Sorry, not trying to be a cunt, but is a four year old refurb really the best strategy right now? I was looking at this myself, and was thinking what four years is equal to in technology these days.

It kind of comes down to price. The 6D hasn't really changed at all in the last 4 years. A new one is $1500 vs $1149 refurbed. That $350 in savings on the body is being put directly into a lens.

Of course I'd love to step up to a fancy recent version of the 5D but that means double the $$ or more.

    Wellllll.....

I said fuck it all and bought a new 6D through Amazon that came with a nice pack of free accessories. I'm also buying a Canon 24-70 f4 L IS macro through a dude on Fred Miranda.
I really want this camera for foliage season.
Now to make it pay for itself

I'm going to have to sell my Canon Ef-S 15-85 Mm F/3.5-5.6 Is Usm lens that I bought from Smmokan a couple years ago to offset some of the cost. I really like that lens but it does me no good on a full frame body. So look for that to come up for sale here in a few weeks.

The 6D is still an awesome camera even though it's 4 years old. Hell, I've been shooting my 5D MK2 up until just recently, and it's 8 years old. You'll love it.

Well the camera is set to be here Tuesday but the 24-70 f4 L on Fred Miranda fell through after it took PayPal too long to get the money loaded my account . He sold it to someone who could pay immediately.
So I bought a EF 50mm f/1.8 STM refurb so that I can have something in the middle ground to put on the front of my new camera. I figure it is a pretty cheap hold over until I can pick up a good used 24-70 or 24-105.

You'll enjoy the 6D, and I think you made a good choice with the 24-70 f4 over the 24-105.

    Damn it!
It looks like UPS lost the package containing my new camera. I was supposed to get it today which would have been perfect for peak foliage and the photoshoot job I have this weekend.

    Now I have to wait...

Well UPS's tracking system sucks. The package arrived and has been signed for. However, the tracking system still hasn't updated from the last arrival scan at the UPS facility in Florida.
    Oh well.

The battery is in the charger and I'll be ready to snap some shots tomorrow.

You will love the 6D. I made that buy years ago and have been thrilled. It's limited by the SD. But I've found a high end SD card will allow it to shoot rapid for many more frames than a cheapo SD.

I've been shooting the 6D and the 24-105 for the past year now and have nothing but positive things to say about it, I'm sure you'll love it too. The low light performance is incredible, I can go up to ISO 6400 and still get really usable photos and honestly haven't had a need to go up any higher than 6400 to get to 1/20s shutter speeds where most of my shots on the 24-105 are decently sharp with IS on.

The lens is a bit funky and seems soft at times and tack sharp at other times at the same aperture/shutter speed, but all in all, the focal length makes for the perfect walk around lens. I don't think it's come off the body since I got it...maybe I just need more lenses though...

^^^^ Pick up the 70-200 f/4 L lens, you'll love it. It looks like it's going for $350-400, which is a steal. I don't think I've ever taken a bad shot with it on my 6D.

I took this today with the 6D and my 70-200 f2.8 L lens.

Right now I only have three EF lens. The 70-200, a wide angle Tokina 11-17 f2.8 lens, and a the 50mm USM lens (that I just got). I'm holding out for a 24-70 f/4 lens instead of the 24-105.
