Ha...here's a hint: if you haven't gone across the east river it's tough to get to the Bronx (and remember, the Bronx is up and and Battery's down).

There's a lot that can be confusing about NYC neighborhoods--I think there are still tiny sub-neighborhoods in Queens whose names I've never heard (some of those places are basically a few blocks, but they have their own names). And SI, fuhgeddaboutit (should make it official and just let NJ have it).

When I was a kid I had no idea where anything was--I thought Washington Square Park was next to the UES and that my grandmother, who lived in Hollis (Queens), lived in the Bronx. But I've since learned that all kids have no sense whatsoever of where anything is.

I don't really see the appeal of Harlem. The studio museum is nice but that's the only reason I ever head there. The cloisters is worthwhile. I spent my birthday there a couple years ago throwing a frisbee on the lawn and hitting some of the local boulders.

I'd probably rather just hang out in Central Park though and boulder on a nice day or chill on the beach, but I'm a city guy that hangs out on a ski forum.
