That's what happens when a hurricane doesn't make landfall in FL for 11 years. (thanks a lot Al Gore) The climate terrorists on the weather channel are pretty pent up and have a lot of fear mongering to get out.

Nothing more than a strong long shower across GA and the low country of SC. Pretty sure there was stronger wind after a night at the local Mexican place.

Great weekend! Started Friday eve when the wife and I had the house to ourselves. Got busy then went down town for cocktails. Terrorized the town with kids n wife on our bikes Saturday. Sent the kids to sleepovers with friends that eve while the wife and I went on a deer scouting/hunting drive down south. Saw several deer, let the dog flush a big covey of quail then finished it off acting like high schoolers by gettin it on in the woods to the sunset. Did a little yard work Sunday then went to a local park where we met up with some other parents and their kids and had a last day of summer party. Played volley ball, corn hole, skated and drank. Followed that up with a night at Spokane comedy club with some friends and fucking laughed our faces off.
Chilling at the house today putting the final preparations on my gear for elk hunting this weekend.

Roof top sendoff of our former town manager (center has taken the position in Crested Butte) after paddling Browns Canyon. Followed by hiking all over the mining claim I'm buying with GPS locating corners (looking for the perfect ski hut site) then went 500' back into the mine. Finished off with beers in St Elmo at a friends cabin. Working today (time and a half and obviously not busy).

Well it hasn't been totally nothing, gust to about 48 knots just offshore here, so a bit sporty, but dropping off now.

Yeah, guards were gone but the cops were out throughout the daylight hours. Watched a couple of surfers get escorted off the beach...

Interesting... I'm in Montauk and although the ocean is "closed", surfers are allowed in the water at their own risk.

What are you doing for Labor Day weekend?

After a mellow weekend in Bozeman visiting in laws, riding bikes, hot springs, vacation-level beer consumption; I had a great Labor Day traffic moment on I15 south of Pocatello today. There's a right lane closure with left lane traffic backed up over .5 mile (there was a sign saying such) from the single lane, and clear sailing to the cones in the right lane after the kooks in front of me slam on their brakes to a stop and merge into the back of the line - an epic moment in itself.
Max efficiency is two lanes of traffic up to the merge, right? I was under the impression that was codified tgr law and behaved thusly.
So I'm cruising along, passing all the stop and go, for almost the whole length...seeing some quality accelerations from fools making sure they close their gap before I would be able to slip in, but I've got over a quarter mile to go, we're not shutting down this party yet.
Suddenly some traffic vigilante in a white Sentra decides he's shutting it down and starts to get all herky jerky into my lane. By this time I've got a line of people following me and am 1/8 mile from the cones so after fucking around with him a few seconds, acting like I'm ready to get in the weeds to get around him, I get over into the left lane, he moves back and a few cars cruise right past and merge in smoothly by the cones as I watch the guy loose his shit through the back window.

I think in this area (maybe Jersey in general but I don't know) they basically fruck out after Sandy. The town where I was was pretty much ground zero for all the Jersey Shore destruction pix you saw back then.

I walked up to the beach with some fins after 500pm to see if the waves were body-whompable. As I walked near the water there was a cop waving me away and about 2 blocks away they were escorting some dudes with surfboards away from the waterline. I just left then.

It was rough as shit out there, so I don't blame them. Not really surfable either, unless you like bailing immediately after the bottom turn. .

This panned out nicely, rode Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. Monday's ride started at Guardsman Pass and descended Scotts Bypass/Shadow Lake/Apex/CMG down to PCMR. Not bad for a 6 y.o.

Played my first round of the year at the local track http://www.polecreekgolf.com/

Went on a nice long hike in the Indian Peaks and scouted Solo Flight on Lone Eagle which is supposed to be 4th class? Need to get some more info.

I've never been much of a rock climber but have kinda been getting into these alpine traverses recently. That particular part of the Indian Peaks looks more like California than most parts of North Central CO. Plus, I can see it out my home office window so I figure I should stand on the top of it at some point. Here is another scramble up that I only have to drive on pavement for about 2 minutes to get to.
