    PSA: Independence Pass Opening

CDOT says the pass should be open by this afternoon (5/24/05) around 2pm. There should be a good bit of snow pack up there, even with all this warm weather. That is all...

Will be camping up in that area this weekend. Looks like things are cooling off for a few days, so hopefully some of the bigger and more exposed lines freeze back up.

.. if Uintas plans fall through, you might hear a knock, knock on your door for some Indy Pass action

Shieeeh, I'll be up there - hope for a freeze up ...

MountainBoy, 4th o' July ... very good skiing up there; A+ aspects

Wish I still lived up there - I'd be there today ...

I remember we were doing snowmobile laps one year, under a full moon.

By the letter of the law, snowmachines are not allowed cause it's wilderness area. Some dudes got ticketed two years ago towing on the ridge to 4th of July bowl.

    But on a full moon...

To those heading up, keep checking the snotel sites http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/nwcc/sn...ays=7&state=CO

Highs spiking to the mid 60's in the day and only barely dipping below freezing at night. Looks to be shaping up similiar to the opening weekend two years ago, when wet slabs were peeling off at 10 am.
There's only one law ya can't break .......embarrassing a cop in public.

Yeah, things just went south up there. Not sure what the estimated opening is now.

    CO 82 Independence Pass
    Existing Conditions: CLOSED
Restrictions in Place: CLOSED. High water, road erosion.
Comments: Will not reopen for Memorial Day weekend.

Dude. that was back in '69 - Hunter was running for Sheriff and nobody gave a fock. Speaking of Hunter and full moon skiing - I remember this one run down Mnt. Boy maching at like 80 on bullet proof crap - dude, I was like going so fast I was getting trails off the stars man. (at least I think it was because I was going so fast...)
