Headed to Orlando for a week of work next week and I've got a free weekend. I'm thinking about heading down to the everglades for a couple of days and renting a canoe. Based on some searches it sounds like quite a few of you have done that and had a good time but I didn't find much specific info. Better to go out of the Homestead area or up by Everglades City/Chokoloskee? Any other info would be much appreciated as well.

it's been about 20 years for me, but my recollection is that Everglades City/Choko was better access. Google around for this too: I read an article about a guy who would take you in on an airboat with yaks, drop you off and come back for you. I think he rented gear too. You might not want to drop the dollars, but it sounded pretty cool. He even does overnight trips.
