Are the brakes on the FT's replaceable?
Are the brakes on the FT's replaceable?
Not really
The first generation ones (first 1.5 years or so) were, same style as the Vertical brakes. Then they changed the design, you have to grind a small wrench down to fit the small slot and hold a nut stationary before you can back the adjuster screw out of the pivot post. Details on Wildsnow.com if you want to try (assuming you can find a replacement brake). Now they sell the entire baseplate with brake attached for more or less the same $$ as the previous brake only. They will probably not stock the baseplate assemblies forever either, as they are discontinuing the Radical 1.0 (except Speed Radical) in favor of the 2.0.
You can swap in Salomon brake as for less $ on verts or 2 1, duno about rad

It's easy once you grind a wrench like gregL described, but easier just to swap entire baseplates with brakes attached. If you're using the same bindings on multiple skis, just leave the baseplates on the skis and swap the toes (if you have inserts or BF plates) and upper heel assemblies from ski to ski.
* You probably don't want to back the adjusting screw out of the newest Radical 1.0 model (with the spring-loaded heel post), it's tricky getting it back together.
thanks all

If yer like me you got dynafit brakes you swapped out cuz they were too skinny sitting in a box somwhere, this ^^ is how you can make use of them for a whole bunch less $, in this mod buddy enlarges the hole in the stomp pad instead I filed the ends of the salomon brake arms to fit the smaller holes in the Dynafit stomp pad ... either/or
Dynafit brakes are gona cost you 70$+ and they don't really work with a shit anyway
I used salomon guardian brakes I bought on sale end of season for 20$
