Back on April 15th I found myself leaning against the Mexican border fence with the goal of riding the Arizona Trail (minus Wilderness detours) all the way north to Stateline Campground on the Utah line. 13 Days, 9 Hours & 44 Minutes later I arrived, still in one piece.
I put together a very long blog entry about my experiences out on the trail. I ended up with almost 1 pic for every mile, so there's tons of images to browse through:
AZTR750: Mexico to Utah
On the border.
Tiger Mine TH near Oracle.
Roosevelt Lake.
Humphrey's Peak near Flagstaff.
Grand Canyon portage, crossing the Colorado River.
Rode 41 miles in a driving snowstorm to Jacob Lake on the North Rim.
First there was hail, then cookie dough death mud wrapped in pine needles with 18 miles to go!!

READ THE BLOG. This guy is an animal. Spent the first half reading and wondering why folks do a AZT300 vs. 750 and then realized that the 750 involves climbing down and up the GrandfuckingCanyon.

Thanks All!! I've been back on the AZT a few times since the race up north. Pretty cool to see the transformation from winter/spring riding conditions to summer. The ferns near Flagstaff are already handlebar high. I did an overnight bikepack up to the South Rim a few weeks ago and spent a few moments reflecting on my Canyon journey at the S. Kaibab trailhead - sure was glad I wasn't putting my bike on my back this go-round!
Next up is a roadtrip to North Dakota for the Maah Daah Hey100 in early August. Can't wait for that one. Colorado Trail Race next year.
