Lowe's and Bridges' bodies found on Shishapangma

Over 16 years after Alex Lowe and David Bridges were caught in an avalanche while scouting lines on Shishapangma, their bodies were found by Ueli Steck and David Goettler. Crazy.

I wondered if this should be posted in the climbing forum...

Ya timing on that , while understandable with the lack of snow, is a bit freaky to happen on their last day there. Curious what the couloir looks like

An excellent, and heartfelt article by Andrew McLean (Straightchuter) that ends with some good reflections about respecting limits in the mountains:

Kris told me about this event. The avy propagated way out of sight, was hudge and spotted with scarce time to respond, as I recall. Chris and Hans jumped behind some rocks to dodge the wind blast, which was immense, and another guy present dove to the ground and was almost scalped by the rock debris. Took like a couple hundred field stitches to hold the skin on his head. Some might recall the time here when Kris bumped into a euromag who helped him the day Hans died.
