How come Nick Lamb wasn't invited to the Eddi?

Was just wondering, guy won Mavericks and had some insane sessions at Jaws earlier in the winter.
Was it because invites are sent out earlier in winter?

Pretty exclusive club, not quite sure what the invitational criteria is.

Although after posting this I went back through the invitee list, and I have to say of all the years I've spent following surfing, I've never heard of Takayuki Wakita. So who knows? Maybe next year.
