Currently trying to trade my 930T, a Challenge Stradale, and a 365 GT4 BB for this 10 year old 911. I got a 17 Turbo S yesterday too, if any of you dentist need one.

Capable of running from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and hitting a top speed in excess of 220 miles per hour (354 km/h) - actual recorded top speed was 217 mph (349 km/h) - the CTR2 was one of the fastest production supercars in the world, capable of out-running Ferrari'sF50 (193 mph), Jaguar's XJ220 (213 mph), and performing on par with Nissan's R390 GT1 (220 mph). The one million dollar McLaren F1 was the only other production car at the time which was later found to have performed better under testing, by 1998, making the Ruf CTR2 the 2nd fastest production car of the day.[/QUOTE]
You're trying to trade for that as your personal car? I have no problem admitting that is more car than I can drive. Good luck with the trade! Looking forward to your youtube reprise of the Yellowbird N-ring lap.

And here, I figured that would just be a low profile way to drive home after a few too many...

E30 is gone. Someone ponied up the money right quick.
I'm gonna miss that little convertible. Great fun to drive.

Buying a 10+ year old car what could go wrong?

In the market for an 04-06 Wrangler Unlimited. Just found a mint one with 45,xxx on the clock, out of the salt belt, manual, for a reasonable price, and their is no way to contact the seller in the ad. I'm about to pull my fucking hair out.

Update: Seller just posted contact info per my request. Think I got my foot in the door first on this one.

Anyone have tips for shipping a vehicle that's purchased across the country?

Buy a plane ticket and drive it home?

If that was an option I wouldn't have asked about shipping. Would love to do that but don't have the vacation days. If I went that route I'd want to take a whole week so the drive wasn't rushed.

BD, I will check them out. They look pretty legit.

I've used dependable auto shippers multiple times. Never an issue.

What's a ballpark cost to ship across the country? Less than a plane ticket and gas?

Almost certainly yes. Plus time away is not an issue.

I've used Passport Transport and Intercity Lines but they are enclosed only. UShip can be a decent choice for open air transport like you might run into with a Jeep but it requires patience and a critical eye toward who will actually haul the load.

    Finally...redemption!

After a year of pleasure (challenge?) of owning a piece of Brittish Steel, a longer trip was due.
10 days, 4000km+ and Norwedge delivering its best. Win.

In the last 6 months have been done :

    -head gasket (blown)
    -fuel regulator (leaking)
    -injector (replaced)
    -wiper cable (broke)
-front breaks (calipers jammed, disks were shot)
-rear shocks, wheel bearings, bushings, A-Frame joint...
    -part of front bushes
    -crank position sensor (un-necessaryily)
    -gas pedal (sensor fault)
-front wheel bearing jammed (both replaced)
    -front flanges

    To do :

    - clutch is dodgy (spigot bearing and the clutch is original, 198k km on it)
    - traction Control (is doing weird noises, utter mystery to everyone why)
    - shaky running for few seconds after going idle (engine mounts or fuel pump, perhaps)
    - steering is a vague, +/-10´ dead spot in the middle (bushings replaced and servo has to be reconditioned)
    - others...

Van is definitely not up to any kind of overlanding specs yet.

Pushed one 1000km day which average speed of 85km/h and have to say that is about the max I want to do with the Defender.
Noise above 90km/h starts to take its toll and the slack in the drivetrain takes some concentration. Engine is also definitely underpowered for high speed runs with its meager 122bhp and low gearing, otherwise the car was surprisingly mellow to drive and got only better as the roads got rougher..duh...

Next bigger project is redoing the interior, adding bed + shelves and whatnot. Second battery will go in with a inverter and solar panel capacity, removable winch will be added with new bumper. Storage locker and small (25-50L?) water tank & shower will be added to gain some 5-7 day autonomy. Replacing the belts and hoses is first in the line though... Being a 2004 car, they start to be at the end of the teether anyway. As I have never been a mechanically a particularly proficient individual, this piece of individual certainly have challenged me. And without doubt, will continue to do so...

But damn, there are cars and then there are Cars.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Depends on the car. I've done a crv and a Saab wagon both around $1k. I believe it can be less if you're willing to wait longer to receive the car and pickup at a local location. I have done both pickup and home delivery.

    Cool read Meathelmet!

As Clarkson always said, "Handmade in Britain is just another way of saying the doors are going to fall off."

Hope your Defender keeps bringing you to places like that!

Fuck. Guy said he's got a local sale pending and the other person is coming out to look at and potentially buy the Jeep tomorrow.

    This is it FWIW

Only 7000 miles in the last 8 years… I'll be sad to see this thing go if it does tomorrow. Been looking for a while for a replacement for my Zr2 and it hasn't been easy. The pussification of true SUVs from 2006 on has been sad to say the least.

Make sure you check out the wiring harnesses that lead to and from the computer. They're on the firewall directly behind the battery. I have a 2005 Wrangler that is used just as sparingly, and I keep a battery maintainer on it. Twice, with two different batteries, I've ended up with corroded wiring harnesses. Regular lead acid batteries off-gas when on a charger, that gas condenses on the harness, flows to the lowest point, and slowly corrodes the wires. I rebuilt the harnesses and finally replaced the battery with a sealed AGM.

Is the "unlimited" model inferior to the "limited" model. Serious question. Makes no sense.

Twice the two finger waves is what I would expect.

On that note I have been, and have experienced, on the receiving end of the P car two finger wave many times, but recently noticed a Panamera Driver try and give it to another… Yeah, no

I use to own a Peugeot and it was tough to give a wave while pushing but it did allow me to work on my hitch hiking game.
