    Tradenstuff.com

    Tradenstuff.com

I am a broke ass flyfisherman always looking for some deals on used gear. Craigslist meh, some fly shops sell used gear, ebay has some gems but I am always doing stuff in that last hour of a auction and miss it . A google search turned up tradenstuff.com. I kinda bugged out on the amount of gear he has for sale (and the year 2000 site design). Much of it is new, some of it used. Prices seem pretty good compared to retail on the new stuff. I have been in contact with Dave about a couple of 7 weights and he is on point with email communication. A couple of older posts in some fly fishing forums say this guy is legit and no issues with returns or quality of product.

Do any of you fine maggots have experience with tradenstuff.com?

Prices seem on the higher side, I would think with some patience you could find most of it cheaper. Used XP for 750$, gimme a break.

I'm looking in the 300 range those tfos and the sage seem like good deals compared to a Google search of retail prices but could be older rods hard to tell. I suck at figuring out rod values. Any suggestions on a 7wt that will handle streamers, some chrome or freshwater bonefish action and the occasional trip to Florida for some grass flats? I'm thinking tfo bvk or mangrove or St Croix legend. Is there something I should be looking for used on ebay?

There are a few rods I've seen, from time to time, that are a decent price...but I have to agree with others, most are on the upside of the price scale...(PC Version)

Thanks for the responses. I fished a friends Sage One last fall and loved that rod but it is way out of my price range. I will check out that Clearwater thanks Snapt. The price is right. I just picked up a Lamson Liquid for my new St Croix 5 wt and like it. I own a Konic and it doesn't seem far removed from that. Love the Lamson drag! Cabelas has a deal on a liquid and 2 spare spools which is probably what I'll do for the 7 wt

You don't know any guides? Most guides can buy gear at 40% of retail. So that means you can trade a guide (with a taste for the green stuff) an Oz. for a brand new $600 rod and both of you are coming out ahead in the deal. The rod company isn't but then maybe they shouldn't mark their product up 90% over cost if they don't want people doing an end run around retail. But if you want a great new rod for half price, "trading stuff" probably works better than Tradenstuff

The closest thing to a guide I know is SFB. He is all about the "green" fishen the "Green" and traden stuff but I don't think he'd be willing to give up his 7wt with bonefish season starting up. If any of you guides on here want to trade some stuff for a 7 wt I am heading to the bitterroot in a couple weeks. I can bring you crates of fry sauce, 3.2 beer and jeebus jammies
