i am guessing that pretty much every ON3P will translate into a very good touring ski - their soft snow prowess is second to none. I also cannot really fault ON3Ps in light snow. I prefer stifferskis across conditions though, and I felt that the current gen R11 is too stiff compared to their weight and ability to absorb hits. SF110s are much better compromises imho, softer throughout but significantly heavier so absorbs a lot more while being equally good on piste. I just wanted to reup my love of the BG108tours, If you are a BMT109 skier that want a slightly more forgiving tail while upping the suspension and ability to motor through stuff - go BG108tour, at little to no weight penalty. I prefer them to HL BC110s too. I am a bit hesistant to post nuanced feedback on HL skis in their threads, yet I kinda find the BC110s to be a bit too soft. I say that from nearly not trying the BGs on a testing day because I had so much fun the HL110s (they are really really good skis as well - BG108tours just fit my style better). And yeah, that is a design choice to make the reverse camber shape work, but it also makes for a ski that loads up really powerfully to spit you out of a turn. I do not want myt ouring skis to do that - I want them (like my resort skis) to be super predictable. To be become airborn out if a steep turn at mach schnell is something I can do without ( i want my skis to act predicably regardless of high speed extreme cases), and BG108tours can do both while being sooooo easy to turn/pivot on. Aka just what I want in a touring ski. A -8 mount would make them near perfect. Get em while you can - they are simply superb directional touring skis.

Yes - 1 base, 2 side. I'll try the true bar. Thanks for that suggestion. They do ski how I'd imagine them to be if base high- like the exact opposite of being railed.

As pictured a dozen or so posts back, I just got some new to me Praxis Woo2s, UL/carbon/veneer flex 3. Would love to A/B against BG108, but so far they are working well enough that I don’t have a burning desire to try the BG108.

So that mid-90s size is my real priority moving forward.

Mostly an academic exercise now since the WooTest 2.0 hasn’t been on the Custom Ski page for at least a year now … but it does seem like both skis use slightly different design principles to achieve the same application (loose and quickly maneuverable touring ski in ultra funk 3D snow)

You can build one on the Custom Ski builder and tell us all about it! Select Wood 92 then go full tour layup. Seems like it would be a great stock option, to complement the BG108T or WD110T.

Yeah might be a reality in the pre season custom sale. Over a grand is a little steep.

    When does that usually start?

Methinks volcano season will start a bit earlier than normal but then last a while; all those early season high elevation storms have the OR snowpack extremely thin to non existent below pass elevations but then pretty dang fat 0.5-1k above that. I think we are also doing a lot better in OR than WA right?

I skied Thielsen and Garfield this last weekend, corn on Saturday and dust on crust on Sunday. Could have used a WD92T!

would love to get the collectives opinion - landed a pair of 2014 vintage BGs in a 176 length. For context - I have an old pair of 174 Bibbys that I love but wanted to get on the BG train for heavier wet pow days. Finally got out this week and while float was amazing they felt really hooky even in pow and took a lot of effort to get any kind of turn initiation in tighter spots. They are mounted on the line(demo binders so I can play around with the mount) but wondering if I should try going forward or back and if I need to detune tips/tails

Do you have a true bar?
For skis that old - the base can change flatness over time - it might be worth doing a full tune, base flattening and re bevel edges just to get to a known starting point before messing with detune and mount variables.

I don't have a true bar but good tip to start off with a full tune before changing tune/mount

Ive got my 2014 BGs mounted -6.5 from TC / +2.5 from recommended and they are utterly amazing there. If youve got demos, slam em forward and see what you think!

Getting my 182 veneer BG118s remounted today with Strive demo bindings at around -9 cm. It will allow me to go forward to -7. I wanted to go further forward but couldn’t with the hole conflicts from two separate sets of prior Pivot mounts.

These are the ones I had mounted with Pivots at -10.5 and were too stiff for me. Big storms coming this week here, so, wishing myself luck!

I’ll also have my 179 stock BG116s in the truck (mounted on the line, so -9.5?) in case the remounted 118s don’t work out …

Got two really solid days on my BG110 this week after missing pretty much every decent snowfall this year. Such a great ski when things are fresh and the way they slash and pivot when things get heavy and tight just makes me so happy.

Factory Finds are live. Lots of interesting options but alas no long W92s. Maybe the next batch.

Hadn't been out on the J118Ts this year and conditions looked good today so did a few hrs on them until things got heavily tracked and more BG appropriate. I have only used them touring and wasn't sure how well they would handle an inbounds semi-crowded resort pow day but they were damp enough to really reinforce that i dont need another pow ski. If i was i would be all over a stock layup J118 though. The only thing it kind of lacked at was the 100ft of firm low elevation groomer which is unsurprising for a 2kg 118 waist ski.

Not using punctuation to avoid emoji barf is kind of hard lol.

Oh man I am going to bury my head in the sand on that Factory Finds sale for now.

I had an interesting day on my new to me 179 BG116s. No idea what vintage. The ones I posted earlier with mountain valley sunset graphics, a mountain goat, and black contrast border.

Stiff ski for a 179 (like stiffer than all my other “179-180” cm skis, including a Flex 3 Praxis WooTest and Nordica Enforcer), suspension feels more linear and less progressive / less “plush off the top” than my 181 WD110s or even those veneer 182 BG118s that felt a touch too rear mounted and stiff for me as well (though those felt more stiff “deeper in the travel” if you will).

I had them on the line and had no trouble driving or turning them but I think they might be more fun 1 cm more forward without sacrificing too much float.

All of which keeps begging the question, am I more of a J118 skier than a BG skier??? I’m no longer afraid of the -4 mount, some time on Bent 120s at -3 in deep snow have fully disabused me of any concern for skiing more centered in pow.

Damn! Thanks for the heads up, just bought the BG118 Midnights. Couldn't help myself, probably my fav topsheet. That being said, my fairly minty custom green 189 ASYMs are now for sale! 2 mounts, open one is for pivots at a 300bsl $325 plus shipping. Will do a GS post next week if no one here wants them.

Anyone know how a Jeffrey 118 compare to a black ops 118?The black ops is insane, but just too short.

More surf. More float. Quicker to pivot. A touch leas smash.
