lots of nice ON3P sticks for sale in Gear Swap, including these touring beauties.
In other news, I've spent a bit of time on wood96s and wood108s the last few days - both are great.
I re-mounted my wood108s at -1 with Pivots for this season. They ski great there (if not as great as wood116s that are really great at -1ish), if a bit lethargic turn initiation wise on groomers. I prefer them at recommended, so I will remount them at rec.
The Wood108s kinda blew me away yesterday - so much fun in spring snow, aka denser fresh on top somewhat crusty snow that is also sunbaked, and on softer groomers. Very surfy and fun off piste, so solid on piste. I know their tails have been a point of much debate in this thread, but the more I ski them the more I like them. Their tune is on point too after a lot of fiddling, unlike my wood110s that I will have to do a complete retune on after I unwittingly carved on some snowcovered rocks.
Re wren102tis - I would very much like to try a pair of wood96tis or wood102tis, or pick up a pair of wren102tis. Still, wood96s are not lacking for grip on hard snow, but more is more betterer no?

Interest piqued. How do these compare to Mantra 102?
focus.
How does the design of the current Wren 102ti compare to the previous years Wrens in terms of rocker, splay, and flex?
Still thinking about (and saving for) some Woodsman 110 Tours. Has anyone mounted them like +2? The mount point keeps shifting back over the years, and I prefer a mount at like -5.5 or -6.
(If it matters, I'm coveting custom stiffer than stock in the 187.)

They seem to be the same, (got curious, so a few minutes in PP taking the left 108, mirroring it and superimposing a translucent 102 on top). The 108s look to have more splay / tip rocker due to the tips not touching due to the brakes and a differene in perspective (the angle of lean).

you should try to track down a pair of stock ones (should flex similarly to a tour construction with custom stiffer flex) with demo bindings near you and see if you can take em for a spin at +2.
yeah, not really helpful - sorry.
Preface: I’m 5’8” 210lbs and I’m driving these with a Lange RS boot
Not the tours but I have the regular woods 110 in a 187 mounted at +2 with a cast system. I can still drive the shovels, they do not tip dive. They are very maneuverable in tight/steep places and they are more balanced in the air.
Hope that helps

Very helpful, thanks! I like more progressive mount points, they just jive better with my style both in steep terrain and in the air. The big ole twin on the Jeffrey makes it cumbersome to kick turn, or I'd go Jeffrey 110 Tour. For reference, I'm like 5'11" 165#, and I ski the 186 Jeffrey 110 and a 191 BG inbounds. I also have a 185 Zero G 108 mounted like +4 or something, which sometimes skis a little weird from the forward mount.
Maybe a stupid question since I want to do the same, but what drove your decision to mount +2?

I also have the Jeff 110 in a 186 with the stiff flex and have toured on that as well and imo I think the extra tail from the -4 mount isn’t that terrible (granted my tours are sled powered and mostly very short).
But most if not all of my skis have mounts that are forward. In soft snow I prefer a more neutral stance and when it’s firmer I can still drive the shovels and they the respond with fast turn initiation. Most of my pow skis I’ve had in recent years were at -3 from true(usually a twin tip) and my directional skis I usually moved to -4.5 to -5 regardless of recommendation and I follow the same idea whether I’m using alpine bindings or NTN.
Im a reformed park rat, so I guess from growing up like that I strongly prefer a closer to center mount regardless of the ski.

updated stock in the store: Woodsman102s in the previous Mera102 lengths are now in stock - if in very limited quantities, as are BG118tours in all lengths.
I really want to try the BG118tour 187s as well as BG110 187s, but do not need more skis. At all. Not even a little bit.
Someone should buy my woodsman 116 in gear swap. https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...P-Woodsman-116
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Woodsman 21/22 102 182 review
Aging Colorado side mountain Wren 108 skier, feeling a bit beat up after spending first part of season on hard snow... Bought the Woodsman 102 mid season, and love them. Only took a couple of runs to get used to more forward position (I had skied Kartels prior to Wren). Much more fun to pivoting, jumping, and in the bumps. The signature ON3P dampness, power, and energy are all there. Tails are very poppy and fun. Easier to control turns on hardpack than the Wren.
The only place I missed the Wren was on very high speed long radius GS turns. I took the WD's out on a day of 12 inches new, that went from light in the am to heavy afternoon spring conditions, and they did well in all of this. Color me impressed. I'm very excited in how much I am getting with this ski compared to what I'm giving up with the bigger Wren.
I have 118 BG's as a bigger day ski. Still might be a place for a low 90's Armada declivity type ski in the stable (I feel ON3P could sell a low 90's low rise low tide ski, although I recall on an old Blister Podcast Iggy communicating he wasn't much worried about 55YO dentists struggling on ice on his 108 skis. Ouch!) I suspect I will be selling the Wrens. Will be hard though, as I have loved them.
Post edited to make it a more useful reference.

Hi I just came in to ask if someone can spell ON3P phonetically for me so I can pronounce it right in my head.
Just watched the ON3P video Zoot Space. Made me realize what a cross section of skiers Scott has to please, and what an old shit gaper I really am..
Great vid, I’d recommend it. Can’t really watch it with my eight year old, further confirming my gaper status.

Hah, the various ON3P videos def have their target audience. I am not in it (except for Merrills part when he was still on ON3P) - it is not on brand for how I ski or appreciate ON3P's skis.
That being said, I can def appreciate that they are great for a certain demographic / skiers. Their focus on having fun while doing mini shred (+ some gnarly urban shit) are probably a lot more relatable for lots of kids than really capital intensive big mounting skiing necessitating heli or snow mobiles. So I really like that about them. And Mango's skiing is just bonkers at times - like, how is it even possible.
Which movie did you watch btw?
