Not sure if anyone already posted, but Blister finally got around to reviewing it: http://blistergearreview.com/gear-re...n3p-kartel-116

As the first comment already alludes to, it would have been nice to get Cy's impression vs Gunsmokes.

was stoked to be on my wrens today. There was some persistent crust in the first part of the day and I still had a blast once it softened up. love the billys for a soft snow ski but hard to beat the all around greatness of the wren shape. This is obviously an older model i gots, but the 108 is on the radar

    few runs from today

Yeah, I sure miss it, being able to side country ski down to the bus. The skiing @ LL CO isn't near as good, but then everything else is better like the alpine camping, backpacking, fishing, schools and THE BEER!

    2016/2017 - ON3P SKIS Thread (Finally)

    Mini Wren 98 review:

I've skied them both in the backcountry and the resort, from firm groomers to a foot of powder. A pretty solid all mountain offering and much more user friendly than the Wren 112's. The tips and tails are noticeably softer and while that allows them to maneuver in bumps and tight spaces quite well, their speed limit is significantly lower and they don't have that kill the mountain sensation. Which is fine because they're more versatile for a wider range of conditions. And unlike the 112's they're perfectly happy making a variety of turn shapes.

One major plus is they ski powder better than any 98mm ski I've ever been on, as the tips and rocker allow them to plane nicely. If it snowed a foot overnight and they were all you had you'd still be perfectly happy and not regretting that you didn't have your pow sticks.

On another note, you guys should really consider adding those 108 skinny goats to the line-up or press out another batch and spend some more time on them. They're just awesome and now that I have 20-25 days on them they might be my favorite skis ever. Although I suppose the Kartel 108's are in the same ballpark.

    I completely agree.

And I don't want to hear about the skinny goats, dammit, until the unicorn gets converted to reality.

Exactly. Except if someone else gets them they should put those sweet green sidewalls on 'em.

So much fun- it's like the BG experience but they work great when it's just dust on crust like I had today at Breck. And much better on bumps.

The green sidewalls are the bomb. Got them on my BG's and will have them on my Kartel's too.

Is this for me? If so, sweet!!! Cannot wait... Literally anxious like a schoolchild waiting for the Adults to finish the coffee and cigarettes before opening presents.

Otherwise, yeah the new stuff looks really cool too, though I'm happy with what I've got/am getting.

    Hey Powtron!

    • Am I OK at the Loveland demo with WTR boots (Lange XT 130 Freetour) with your alpine mounts (AAAtack?), as long as I sign off on the release form?
    • Are the Steeples mounted with tech bindings as someone posted earlier?

Folks have posted previously in this thread that they've used WTRs with AAAtack binders. I don't want to go on injured reserve just to demo some skis ... not that I release more than once/twice a year.

    Thanks!
    Thom

I don't get out much, so today was the first time I ever fondled a new ON3P ski. Not that I wasn't already a believer based on mag testimony, but my God... JUST a bit of difference in craftsmanship, fit, and finish vs a mass produced ski.

Our blizzards have served us well and will continue to play their roles in the quiver (maybe?), but they've all required extensive edge work out of the box. In contrast, my wife's new Jessie 98's showed up tuned exactly as I would have done it.

Fucking gorgeous ski. I'm sorta bummed the wardens we're just a few mm short of fitting my boots.

Drilled them today. I was a little concerned about the waist size but the comments on the Wren 98 in pow have me thinking these will do just fine. I convinced my self this narrow would make them way more versatile on the way to the side country. Tomorrow will tell all!

First pair of 0N3P since my OG pre buy Billy Goats... excited

a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I ordered a set of these and they just landed today. waiting on aaattack 12s to mount (what size brakes are those wardens?). Is this an appropriate valentine's day gift?

100mm . Plenty of clearance and very much out of the way if your girl likes to get her lean on. Although not given as a V day gift, they produced a romantic response nonetheless. So I'd say you're good. Did you happen to snag the deal that was posted a few weeks ago? Because damn....

Once I saw the skis though, I felt bad for paying so little.

yeah. slapping 110 brakes on em though which is less than ideal. this unsolicited act will probably slightly irritate the spouse as she doesn't like feeding my willingness to give money to the ski gear overlords.

same as mine until she skis with the new gear! It's always "I don't need anything" that changes to "how much did you pay for it" to "I might need another one"

I'd been telling my wife about ON3P over the past few weeks to facilitate stoke when the skis arrived. After the initial reaction (stoked) she said she was kind of hoping for pillow fight topsheets. Next pair...

Still wondering if the wife will notice the difference between the Kartel 116's, and the 108's I have being mounted

If she does, hopefully the response is along the lines of "where's my next pair?" Which is pretty much what I got when i disclosed the Kartel's i'm having built... She's now deciding between BG's or a custom "Skinny" BG.

I just asked the Team at ON3P if they could throw in some stickers when my Kartel's ship, so hopefully they oblige.

I got busted the other day by stupidly having the Wren 98's and 112's side by side... lol...
