Don't overthink it. It's just sintered ptex.

I mix unicorn tears into mine to increase holding power.

I used too, but couldn't tolerate the extra friction on cat tracks.

See that's where you're doing it wrong, unicorns hate cats.

Shooting for 2/15 to 3/1. Wanted to make sure things are 100% good to go this year and also working on some media to coincide.
You should have been here yesterday!

We're also just sort of over the...drop-your-next-product-line-in-the-middle-of-your-sales-window-so-people-can-think-about-those-skis-for-8-months-before-they-can-buy-them sales cycle.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....

That makes sense. Though kinda less fun for the customer. We like those 8 months of anticipation.

I'm personally really into the drool-over-potential-2018-quiver-additions-while-I'm-out-on-2014-2017-models, but I'm a bored weekend warrior dentist, so....

I'm sure that time would be better spent fondling.

Back to 16-17 ski stoke, i rode my current model year 189 BG's for the first time today at snowbird in pretty terrible conditions (i was too excited to wait). It hasn't really snowed for a week or two and it warmed up pretty good the last week resulting in thaw/refreeze cycles, but a storm rolled in today dropping ~2" on top of a refrozen base that never thawed. Visibility was also shit, and mineral basin was unskiable.

Never tried previous versions without straight sections added to RES, but long story short: these were totally manageable, predictable, and even somewhat enjoyable in conditions that were much better served by an X-Drive 8.8, Legend Pros, or a Cochise. You can't REALLY lay the BG's over and expect them to pull across the fall-line for you on groomers, and on firm offpiste they still sort of drift vaguely, but they always bite when you need them to and allow you to make quick direction changes with ease. These were fine in refrozen bumps. It did get decently wind-deposited in a few areas and Gad2 was skiing good, and these were downright fun in softer conditions. Great balance of damp and poppy, stable and maneuverable.

Only ski that has done this for me before, striking that perfect balance, were 184 Devastators, and those start to struggle once it gets deep. In fact, BG's, Devastators, and a ski for firm refreeze would make a SICK 3 ski quiver.

Excited to get the BG's in better conditions, but i can now validate my choice to take them as a travel ski (i'm visiting from CA) when the conditions aren't known.

This makes sense to me (especially for smaller ski companies). I'm planning on buying some Kartel 98s this season, but if news dropped that they were going to be changed for next year, I might be inclined to wait. It seems like late April/ early May would be the right time to drop info on your new line.

Update on 16/17 189 BG's... got these out at powder mountain after 2 consecutive days of ~4" new, medium density snowfall. Skied a lot of untracked and soft to medium setup chop with just a hint of (still soft) base and moguls coming through later in the day. These were super fun in their element. Float no issue with this amount of snowfall, but still figuring when/where to drive the shins or ski more neutral/upright on this ski. definitely stable AND pivoty in a very predictable way, but not quite the slarve machines i was thinking RES would give. Very enjoyable, but not noticeably looser in chop than automatics or squad 7's to me yet (more stable though). I might run a 1.5 base bevel and detune a few more inches past the contact points, but just to reiterate these were NOT catchy. I just want more at-will-rally-car -drifts. Still crazy damp AND poppy (what?! ....i know!). Good times!

One last point... i waxed these with maplus race base medium once on top of factory wax before riding and they aren't great in glide department yet. Will reserve judgment until after a few more waxes

Funny enough, that pair was the initial pair meant for you.

Well, they're sexy! But I couldn't be more stoked on the hand flex of the pair you sent. Maybe I'll break down and drill them sometime soon.

Anywhere on hood or bachelor to demo? Based on mag stoke + Portland company, I'll buy regardless and lean toward BG, but it would be nice to compare with k116. Wren 88's (maybe 98's) look good for the other side of the quiver too. Wife wants wide Jessie's with pillow fight top sheets. Just stfu JONG and buy it all?

Whats your BSL? More than willing to let any 305 BSL Mags take my mine for a spin.

I used to live in Eden till 2008. Couldn't find a mogul at PowMow then. Too much snow and no skiers. Word is out now I guess.

I will def throw up a review this week, but I finally got to ski my 191 116 Kartels and had one of the absolute best POW days on these... The ski is fun as hell and was so easy and intuitive to ski... I also own the 191 Billy and the skis are def different with 2 diff personalities...

More to follow, but dam did ON3P hit the nail on the head with this ski... Its like the 116 Kartel is the love child of the GunSmoke and Billygoat...! And this ski by far is the best tree ski I have been on... So quick and slashy - made skiing tight places easier...

It wasn't bad. They have one lift that has a lot of great airs and small cliffs that i wanted to session, and that one area was regular resort conditions
