These would not replace, just compliment. But wondering if I'd realistically ever reach for them over my Woods. I'm not a huge 100% full speed charger. I'm more of a play around, have fun, go find the wind lip kickers type of skiier.

The wren you mentioned is the most playful shape to date, but still rewards forward, fast, deliberate skiing more than anything, especially with that stiff ti layup. Much less playful than your WD 108.

Maybe look for a Jeffrey/Kartel? My DD is also WD108, but I still grab my 17-18 Kartel 108s 5-10 times a year for dedicated dick around days (low tide, skiing with wife, spring slush bumps).

19/20 Wren 108ti with a stiffer layup. 189's.
6'0" 175lb with no gear
West coast skiier. Utah Alta Snowbird, Mammoth mainly.


Am I getting myself in trouble? Or will I enjoy these things.

Sounds like you've already made your decision, but if you're not regularly pointing it down big terrain in junky snow and wishing for more, you probably don't need them. That being said, I really liked the Wren 108ti when I demo'd them. If I didn't already have a pair of regular 108s, I'd be really tempted.

Nothing new or groundbreaking to add here. I spent the day on Woodsman 108 yesterday and FKNA, what a rad ski!

I've long lamented the fact that ON3P didn't have what I thought should be in their offering; a beefy Salomon Rocker2 108. I know, I know, not their jam, but the R2 108 was a really fun ski, if not really soft and completely lacking in the toughness required to ski hard. Sure, there was the Kartel, but I never quite meshed with it and I didn't like the exaggerated tail rocker.

Enter the WD108. Plenty of early rise, a playful shape, and a flat-ish tail with just enough rise to shorten up the effective edge. Quick edge and burly and damp enough to point 'em straight or lay down some trenches. These things rip. In a way, they are like my BillyGoats, only more suited for smaller new snow days. The WD 108 doesn't quite have the quickness of the R2108 and it certainly isn't as forgiving, but it's damn close. And as an upside, a fuckton more resistant to sneaker rocks, sharks, and early season mishaps.

I'm way more stoked on these than I thought I'd be. bought them as an impulse and because I'm slut for ON3P, having owned seven or eight pairs over the years.

As a shout-out to the ON3P crew, the mount line on this year's iteration is about perfect. I added another coat of wax and ripped them all day. I think only a small amount of tip and tail detuning is needed. Otherwise, these skis are finished beautifully from the factory. I take a great sense of pride skiing these works of art, knowing they are built in my hometown.

Based on this I think you should get the 191 Kartel/Jeffrey 108. It is the bees’ nuts.

Interesting. I've been searching for the replacement for my R2 108s for years, honestly really like the ski. I tried to replace it last year with a Praxis MVP but that didn't click. This year I'm trying the Jeffery 108 but what you're saying here about the woodsman is pretty interesting....we'll see if the Jeffery clicks.

Also pretty funny that you talk about durability...I totally shredded the bases of my R2s yesterday, they look like a little kid scribbled on them.

Finally got these out for some turns after work today. Already knew I loved the J108s but damn these J116s had me with a permanent shit eating grin even with poop snow (pun intended).

I’d go C&D for the Wasatch, most of the coloradbros say they prefer it in the low density pow. Not sure how much I’d enjoy lugging it into the bc though.

Some Jedi mind tricks isht going on with ski graphics - the more TGR hates on a graphic the more NS seems to love it.

That J108 above looks great; the old bg’s, wrens all look great; eagle; wolf; bear paw; all great. The colors w/ the subtle background pattern all good. The standard zigzag green bases are super sharp...they alway seem like they should be custom only.

the cat & duck camo, Team [color]s & very specifically the hackel pro are terrible

there also may be a rebellious so-ugly-they’re-cool vibe going on with that

other than direct comments appreciating the Hackel design and a few pairs of camo skis purchased by maggots, myself included.

Keep in mind that the WD108 is close, but by its nature, will noticeably different. By that I mean the burly construction and core will make these a ski that needs energy and speed to liven up as compared to the R2 108. Those Salomons seemed like they could turn on a dime, anywhere, on nearly any terrain. The WD you will need to drive. And when you do, you're rewarded with a turny, fun, and lively ski, not unlike the R2 108.

So maybe think of the Woodsman as having a similar ethos as the R2, just built to the standards you'd expect from ON3P. Oh, and they charge and hold up to speed. The R2 108s wilted pretty quickly.

Samesies. I loved the eagle on the Wren, the Wolf on the last year of the Vicik, and so on. Those were killer and clean.
