When the heel piece is mounted, the dildo/turntable assembly slides back under spring pressure when you click in a boot. This is what creates the forward pressure. On my old ones when you pull the assembly back until it hits the stop, the white forward pressure indicator is past the marks on the base. On the new ones, it hits the stop right as the indicator hits the marks.
So based on the indicator, if fwd pressure is set correctly on the old ones there is still a bit of elastic rearward travel available. On the new ones it appears there is not.
As for dildo angle, I was looking more closely and the new one being so much different is strictly due to the angle of the adjustment arms since they are fully extended.

You should have been here yesterday!
what model is that?
i want that under my tree
those are purty.
maybe a Christmas tree and lights topsheet?
I'm sure this has been covered before, but since it's too dark to ski currently: How would you describe skiing goats? I was shooting the shit with a ski buddy, and I'm pretty terrible at describing this kind of stuff. Best as I can think of it, it's kinda like driving the ski more traditionally when it's open, and throwing them around with your mid-foot/heels in trees, bumps. Other ideas? I've heard the whole "ski from the fore-foot" thing, but I don't think that's true for all use-cases.
BG116T update: they real fun. You buy now.
Woodsman 116 update:
I like it a lot! That being said I still find Wren108 easier and more intuitive.
Quick question -
19/20 Wren 108ti with a stiffer layup. 189's.
6'0" 175lb with no gear
West coast skiier. Utah Alta Snowbird, Mammoth mainly.
Am I getting myself in trouble? Or will I enjoy these things.
Currently on Woods 108.
Depends on what you want them for. If you're a strong skier, and buy them as a narrow pow-ski you'll probably be fine. Especially if skied primarily in open terrain / good visibility.
If you're of average skill and/or want to use them as a quiver of one I'd say you should reconsider
Appreciate the response.
I have some bent chetler 123 pow skis, and use the Woods 108 as my daily. Just looking for something different..??. Main reason is because gearswap is getting the best of me...hot wren ti setup for sale
Trying to talk myself in or out of spending more $...
Love the Woods. Favorite ski to date.
I think Iggy both estimates a ski's weight ahead of time and states the weight as an avarage of complete runs. So what you find on their webpage should be a very good approximation of what a given ski will weigh, +/- a bit aka the inevitable variance.
Jaywood - compliment woods or replace? Wrens are def a bit more full speed all the time to be fun type of ski (if still not challenging to ride), while woods are tad more versatile. I expect ti+stiffer just makes the wren-description even more accurate. So I would def consider getting the wrens if you want a second pair for all out raging, but perhaps not if they will replace the woods.
yeah, it sounds like you are already on the appropriate offering from Iggy&crew. The Woods rages plenty hard so I would follow SF's excellent piece of advice - provided you have enough willpower to refrain (I usually do not).
I'll chime in on the Wrens 108 vs. Woodsman 108 as I've owned both and I just spent my first day on the Woodsman.
For me, and where I ski now (the PNWet), the Woodsman is your jam. With shorter fall lines, smaller resorts, and inconsistent steeps, it's tough to really have the terrain suited for a Wren. However, when I lived in Montana and skied big lines like those you find at Big Sky; the Wren was the jam. Wide-open faces, steep and consistent fall lines were perfect for the Wren. You could let those rage sticks run and destroy the mountain. It was glorious.
When I moved back to the PNWet, it was clear that the Wrens would be limited in where and how I would ski most of the time. While I miss my Wrens, the Woodsman is the ski for the PNWet, in my opinion.
Your fitness, strength, and ability will also play into how the Wrens or Woodsman skis.
